Hi Sarthois friend and hello O grand Didier!
I will follow this post closely, because I have as project some form of food autonomy, with the least effort of course.
it would be good to exchange information about what it is possible to plant as a variety of fruits and vegetables at home (example of sugar baby watermelon which seems it is adapted to our climate, turmeric, etc etc. .)
And again thanks to all those who participate in this alternative method and who testify!
Long live life, long live hay

good, it's moving forward! with a friend, we just finished putting up a seedling greenhouse at his place. We will use vegetable squares and seedlings indoors, which should greatly help the production of plants for my lazy garden.
Otherwise, the snow having melted, I took the opportunity to finish the display of hay this morning (under the flakes again!):
I took the opportunity to enlarge my space of culture, with these 3 boards between the fruiters. We are getting closer to agroforestry!
There is only to look at the organization of the boards, and soon the cutting of furrow to the brushcutter ...
good day to all

Hello everyone,
this morning, express ride in the garden to install a first furrow of carrot ... reminder of the method:
1) hay spread in November
2) groove cut with the brush cutter (the cut strip is carelessly cleared on the side, it is what is not nice, but pressed by the time I leave like that)
3) 3 claw teeth to scrape and remove large debris, big potential roots (I remember there were reeds at this place last year!)
4) first filling in the rake
5) sowing (not too dense)
6) I then crumbled potting soil just to cover the seeds
7) raking
abundant watering ... and that's it!
on this board I intend to surround this groove of carrots with onions stuck in the hay. A kind of association of cultures ...
the groove after step 6
Good day to you !

today planting a lot of onions, to shield the sides of this last boards with the furrow.
I took bulbilles of centurions and also of red onions ...
no photos, because anyway, with the hay we will only see when they start to go out!

Hi to all of you,
yesterday again a beautiful day in the garden!
here is a board that I installed: two furrows with red carrot seedling. I hope to take advantage of the rains of the next days to keep the moisture during germination. All the hay space around was shielded with yellow onions in the idea of making an association.
I do not know if it will work, but I will have tried!
I also noticed that when I planted my bulbils in the hay, there are worms which "swim" on the surface of the hay, as in the photo below: because of the vibrations ??
finally an overview of the garden. Globally, marsault willows make their "catkins" and are already visited by bees, plum trees are in bloom, peach trees will follow. For the moment the vines are not moving, the cherry trees, pear trees will not be long ...

Yes, the vibrations of the soil cause the rise of worms fleeing what they believe to be a mole: it is something well known to fishermen.

There is a good chance that they are "epigés"! The anecics flee deep into their gallery. I also have them all the time.
I did not observe it but I was told that some blackbirds know the trick and "trample" on the spot to get them out. And the other idiots, they commit suicide!

They do not commit suicide, because they act thus believing to be saved. I do not know if this is true for blackbirds, but crows use this tactic: by operating in bands, they paradoxically (paradoxically only apparent) maximize the amount of captured prey.

I may be confusing with crows. Suddenly the doubt assails me and I stay planted there like a sow who doubts ...
