Michael Moore: "Five Reasons Trump Will Win"
(...)
The Rust Belt
The states that form the "Rust Belt" (Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin) are traditionally Democrats, but could turn around in favor of the Republicans. On their own, the 64 Grand Voters in those states could tip the scales in Trump's favor. No need for Florida or Colorado. These states have suffered greatly from the free trade agreement put in place by Bill Clinton. A card cheerfully played by Trump who does not hesitate to demonize the couple as "the killer of the American dream". Trump could therefore prevail in these states by surfing this fed up.
The resentment of the frustrated white man
For a significant portion of the male population, the idea of a female president is simply unbearable. For many, there is no question of allowing themselves to be dominated by this "feminazi".
The Hillary problem
The main problem is not Trump, but Hillary herself. Moore himself had vowed not to vote for her again following his vote in favor of the war in Iraq. By force of circumstances, and "to prevent Trump's psychopathic fingers from getting too close to the atomic button," he said he was ready to take a turn. But he thinks that many cannot do the same. "Just look at the unpopularity polls about Hillary Clinton. Almost 70% of Americans polled find her dishonest and don't trust her."
The depressing vote
This election will depend a lot on the number of people who will vote. Hillary does not arouse enthusiasm and voting for it will often be by default. A vote not frankly mobilizing. Sanders supporters are likely to vote for Hillary, but will not motivate those around them to do the same. There will not be a buzz effect like with Obama. To convince young people to go to the polls, Hillary will have to find something that excites them. For example, she could have chosen a running mate, but she preferred security. Another missed opportunity.
"The Jesse Ventura Effect"
Jesse Ventura is a former professional wrestler who also served as governor of Minnesota in the 1990s. He was elected as a joke and people voted for him "because it was possible." In the voting booth, no one knows who you are voting for: “You can choose a political party, or write Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck on your ballot,” says Michael Moore. This anonymity could tempt many dissatisfied people to vote for Trump. "They won't do it because they like the character or buy into his ideas, but simply because they can."
