Brain Functioning: NBIC, Consciousness and Cognitive, Studies, Research, Facts and Mysteries

Here is a complete file on the brain, its functioning (well what we know, that is to say not much ...), consciousness, NBIC (Neurosciences, Biotechnologies, Computing and Cognition), technology, drugs...

File entitled "The brain, a technological object"in 8 very complete parts (illustrated with links to go further). Each part can be read independently of the others.

Part 1, Hacking the brain and presentation of NBICs
http://internetactu.blog.lemonde.fr/201 ... e-cerveau/

Part 2, The most complex non-computer in the world
http://internetactu.blog.lemonde.fr/201 ... -du-monde/

Part 3, Two brains for a decision
http://internetactu.blog.lemonde.fr/201 ... -decision/

Part 4, New ways to speak ... and think
http://internetactu.blog.lemonde.fr/201 ... de-penser/

Part 5, Should you exercise your mind to have it?
http://internetactu.blog.lemonde.fr/201 ... -en-avoir/

Part 6, Drugs, waves and lights…
http://internetactu.blog.lemonde.fr/201 ... -lumieres/

Part 7, and God in all of this?
http://internetactu.blog.lemonde.fr/201 ... s-tout-ca/

Part 8, Brain politics

Long before consciousness, it would be necessary to decipher the communication codes between two unfortunate neurons and what they say to each other, which is completely impossible at present !!
A secret 256-bit bank code is easier to decipher !!
What do the electrical pulses mean, their frequency, their delays, their cadence, etc ... we understand almost nothing, even less how the complex processing is carried out in the brain, images, sounds, etc ... and then awareness is for the next millennium ??

Fully agree.

A little paradox of memory.

A list is much more easily memorized when the objects are associated with other objects.

In other words, when it takes up more "memory space"

Good example elephant and it's the same with memories: remembering one can lead to remember others, more or less directly related ... Also people all have different memories of the same memory lived together!

Personally I have been thinking for a long time that the brain records everything ... i.e. our whole life ...

After that, it is up to "the mind" to look "in the right boxes" or rather with the right keys for information ... for example the emotional feeling of a memory is a powerful key! We manage to remember a memory much better when we have strong emotions while living it ... Routine is what kills the most the ability to retrieve memories.

Dreams are also a mystery of the brain and memory! Some never remember it, others systematically ... I am rather in the 2nd category.

And for example. It happens to me, for an "unknown" reason, to remember one of my dreams, like that in the middle of the day, years later, whereas I had forgotten it a few minutes after waking up!

I'm not talking about recurring dreams (which I've never had to my knowledge) ... which are much easier to remember of course.

The conclusion of the 1st article of the file goes in this direction right?

(...)

But the attitude of this type of hackers faces increasingly difficult challenges. As we have seen with bio, it is not possible to consider DNA as a simple computer program: too complicated, too unforeseen. Likewise, the brain is not a computer in the traditional sense of the term, even though computers were created in the hope of imitating brains. It is therefore necessary for our hypothetical cognhacker to acquire certain basic principles which will serve him in his investigation, and above all, to know where the reflexes he has acquired in his practice of computer science are likely to harm his understanding. It is not necessary for him to acquire an exhaustive knowledge of the subject, but at least to apprehend certain fundamental concepts which we will explore in the next pages of this file.

Okay, I'm going to split because this file is really interesting!

Another thing weird is that action can precede consciousness.
Experiments have shown that the brain prepares the action several milliseconds before the subject is conscious of wanting it!

Thanks, I'll study this!

It's taken from Cerveau & Psycho, same magazine as the one behind this topic: https://www.econologie.com/forums/cerveau-ho ... 10683.html

Taken from the 2nd part of the file about memory: http://internetactu.blog.lemonde.fr/201 ... -du-monde/

For Jonah Lehrer, journalist at Seed Magazine and author of the brilliant Proust was a neuroscientist, this kind of experience confirms the intuition of Proust who considered memory not as a warehouse of static information but as a constant reactivation and recreation of experience. As he explains, "this shows us that every time we remember something, the neural structure of memory is delicately transformed in a process called reconsolidation. (Freud called this process Nachtraglichkeit or "feedback"). Memory is impaired in the absence of the original stimulus, it is less and less concerned with what you remember and more and more with yourself ”.

And a remark on the same page on the DD ???

Little note:

A hard drive works well like memory: if information is not copied to another location regularly, it is indeed lost forever.
Digital data does have this limitation, because of the life of the media: the data is "unalterable" ONLY because it is copied to a new location.

So memory behaves like digital data on a computer.

Apparently it's wrong ...

Magnetic information on a hard drive is not moved as you say. This process is rather at work in the random access memory, or RAM, whose information is refreshed X times per seconds.

Read the many reactions on the page, some are very informative ...

I think so too ... And it bothers me ... what will it be used for? to judge me later : Cheesy:
