Twitter accused of complying with censorship

From Chris LEFKOW (AFP) - 1 day ago

WASHINGTON - The microblogging site Twitter, whose role as free media was hailed during the Arab Spring, was accused on Friday of complying with censorship after announcing that it would be able to block messages in certain countries if the legislation local demanded it.

"This is very bad news," Egyptian pro-democracy activist Mahmoud Salem responded on Twitter.

"Reporters Without Borders is very worried about Twitter's decision to collaborate with the censors," reacted, also on the site, the association for the defense of press freedom.

"Does your new policy sound the death knell for any mention of the Arab revolutions and demonstrations in Manama on the Twitter service accessible in Bahrain?" Asked RSF director Olivier Basille in an open letter to the president and co-founder of Twitter Jack Dorsey.

"The Vietnamese using your social network in their country will they no longer be able to denounce the harmful consequences of the exploitation of bauxite mines on the environment? Are you going to block the messages related to the demands of the Kurdish minority in Turkey? Internet users Russians will see their criticisms of the power in place moderate? ", added Mr. Bazille.

"Was your decision motivated by the desire to enter the Chinese market at all costs?" He asked again.

Other Internet users have wondered if this announcement was linked to the $ 300 million investment by Saudi billionaire Al-Walid ben Talal announced in December, with Ryad exercising strict control over the internet.

In announcing this measure Thursday, Twitter explained that countries respecting freedom of expression "prohibit certain messages, such as France or Germany which prohibit pro-Nazi messages".

Now, Twitter said, some messages may be blocked in some countries but not others, while so far blocked messages have been blocked worldwide.

"We have not yet used this capability, but if we are asked to block a message in a specific country, we will try to contact the user, and we will clearly indicate when the message has been blocked," the site said, who undertook to report any deletion of message on the independent site ChillingEffects.org.

"Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft also carry out selective filtering in certain countries and Twitter is therefore only aligning itself in order to be able to establish itself in certain markets such as China", noted Olivier Ertscheid, internet specialist and master of conferences in Nantes.

For Danny Sullivan, editor of MarketingLand.com and SearchEngineLand.com, "there doesn't seem to be any particular reason to panic."

“Twitter is preparing for potential censorship demands, much like Google already does, by alerting its users when messages are withheld, and informing them of the reasons,” Sullivan argues.

Sullivan notes that Twitter has previously been forced to delete messages in response to copyright infringement charges.

“What's new is that eventually Twitter could have employees in other countries,” he said, “this makes it more vulnerable to legal action in those countries, so it needs to find a way to meet local requirements ".

"What if a country in revolution declares it illegal to 'tweet' about the protests?" asks Mr. Sullivan. "When that happens, Twitter says it's not being asked to block certain accounts or messages."

"In fact," he explains, "the authorities in the country in question are either ignoring Twitter, which is good for freedom of expression, or blocking it altogether, which is bad, but Twitter can't help it."

Article of an "indignant of the media" in Belgium in order to raise a little the average level of information ... if we can still call it that ...

Sweet. "Like a day that begins with the morning paper". La Libre's greeting to its readers is nice, but the reality is quite different!

Certainly we do not ask you to camouflage us all the jolts of all crises, even if the worst of all, the food crisis (hunger affects one inhabitant of the planet on 7!), Is curiously much less analyzed than others . It is however of size to put our “sores” into perspective…

What we ask you is more portraits and projects carried out by women and men who build day by day a less cruel society for the weak, more equitable and therefore much more demanding with the "powerful", whether private or public. And not only portraits of outraged people who have already made the headlines on TV, but rather committed people who, far from the spotlight, are the true artisans of peace and justice, and therefore of the sweetness you wish your readers to enjoy.

This is the message I sent to my daily life on January 2. Why come back?

Because what I ask of this newspaper, one of the best (or the least bad?), We should claim it, and in another tone, to the editorial staff of numerous publications and especially to the owners of TV channels.

The television news imposes on millions of viewers a truncated, simplistic, simplistic vision of the world ... which conditions them "without the knowledge of their own free will". Just listen to the conversations in trains, cafes, grocery stores, the day after a serious accident, a natural disaster, a rare trial, a sporting "event" ... Not to mention the impact of the somersaults of a DSK which were the subject of a kind of neurotic fixation of all the media! While so many other subjects would justify regular monitoring.

But now, "your emotions are big" is the slogan of RTL-Tvi. It has the merit of being clear and that unfortunately makes the law in the profession. Fires, robberies, rapes, pedophilia, princely marriages, Laurent, again Laurent, Virginie Efira, Lady Gaga do you want some! Sometimes even political scientists or financial "experts" whose "analyzes" elude most. It may be better by the way!

But that's 700 viewers every night and several hundred thousand at noon on RTL. The public service which is just "a little less worse" drains significantly fewer people. It does not prevent, on the whole, one approaches the two million people (without counting the connected of the French chains) which are not really "informed". Who are bombarded with briefs (more and more brief) which leave them dumbfounded, moved, amazed, bitter, fatalistic ... Everything but equipped to better understand the world and engage as citizens concerned about the common good.

You will tell me that there are daily newspapers and other periodicals to "inform" them. It is true, some resist as best they can the wave of infotainment. They bring together a few thousand or even tens of thousands of readers. It does not make the weight in front of the steamroller sparking JT. You will tell me again that no one is forced to watch these JTs and that you are finished-finished. OK, but you are part of a small group that risks losing contact with the majority of our fellow citizens and their concerns.

Let’s not resign ourselves to the state of our media! Let's not just be indignant. Let’s take the pen, write e-mails, call out to bosses of chains and newspapers. Take the time to debate, to share our analyzes in trains, cafes or grocery stores. And why not, in addition, to discover shows or publications that make us think, that really inform us and make us live and get involved.

Hello,
It was by chance that I came across this article ..
The former Cameroonian minister of public health, designer of the VANHIVAX vaccine died yesterday evening (June 14, 2011, editor's note) following a long illness at the age of 85 at the CHU of Yaoundé, Cameroon , radio Equinoxe announced today.

Since his political retirement, the old and energetic Cameroonian researcher, octogenarian and full of wisdom, had invented a proven therapeutic vaccine against HIV / AIDS, a vaccine he called VANHIVAX. Despite the revolutionary results he obtained in his modest Clinic of Hope in Yaoundé, reducing to almost nothing the viral load of patients suffering from AIDS, challenging without complex the large known international laboratories, despite the fact that scientific, political, national and international authorities are aware of its results, Anomah Ngu's infinitely meritorious work remains confidential as struck by an omerta which badly conceals his name... and that of its beneficiaries that we imagine many!

Unbelievable, right?

US censorship by lobbys works perfectly on wikipedia !!!

vaccine following the old methods of Pasteur who could no longer do what he had done in the past with the current controls which also censor.

The thing you shouldn't miss:

autovaccine, made from the virus of the patient to be treated

As I understand it, they would take the strain from the patient, then make an "individual" autovaccine ....
This is a real feat, especially since in the scientific community - to my knowledge - no one had managed to isolate this retrovirus!

: Shock:

Awesome.

Besides that, it has been a long time since doctors practicing orthomolecular medicine have successfully treated patients suffering from forms of pathologies arising and related to AIDS!

Hello,
We have known last year the censorship of videos of a Frenchman in Fukuschima.
This morning I found a new form of censorship ...
You are prevented from going to a site in another country!
A proof :D
Click on the following link, and when you want to watch the video by clicking on ZWIASTUN you receive a message in English, with a card explaining that this video is reserved for Poland.
Click on this site: and then click on zwiastun

So all vaccines are isotherapy which is similar to homeopathy for dilutions.

Finally it is very different because the virus is modified, without its envelope (taken by the virus on the lymphocites cells of the patient), but with preserved components, causing an immune reaction which did not take place otherwise.
So given the strong changes, without strong dilution, it is not isotherapy, which requires rendering the same element of the patient at a diluted dose. as for homeopathy.
