Whaoou, that was the right word !!! My daughter and I went to see it (in 2D only ...) and were not disappointed ... At 10 she loved it! Superb images, models and breathtaking renderings !!!

Small flat however and after the fact, the story remains classic, and could be summarized in a paragraph of a few lines, stereotypes galore, as for many super productions that have cost the eyes of the head (I have no more numbers in mind ...) ... How many and what econological actions could have been carried out with such a budget ...

Hi there, Lietseu ... I see that you are a great lover of SF literature and great classics ... I will not fail to follow your list for my future readings ...
Otherwise, it would seem that you have forgotten some authors (francophone for some) of the current generation, and who I think are not to be overlooked ...
I had in mind people like:

Pierre BORDAGE
Philippe AYERDHAL

That I particularly like,

but also

Roland C Wagner,
Orson Scott Card
David Weber etc.

But I honestly admit that with their number, it is difficult to make an exhaustive list of these authors ...

Thanks for the Capt tips!
Here's what wiki says about van Vogt:
"AE van Vogt (born Alfred Elton van Vogt April 26, 1912 south of Winnipeg, Manitoba - died January 26, 2000 in Los Angeles, California) was a Canadian science fiction writer.

He is considered one of the leaders of American science fiction during his golden age, with masterpieces such as the novels In Pursuit of the Slans [1], The Faun of Space [ 2] and Le Monde des Ā [3]; this last work popularized general semantics with the public and caused a major controversy in the world of Anglo-Saxon science fiction.

The French translation of Le Monde des Ā, carried out by Boris Vian, has greatly contributed to launching science fiction in France [4], [5].

Am quite okay with the choice although I found each of his books extraordinary .... they will also appeal to addicts, because they present man in a very "sharp" light ....

: Cheesy: what references in SF ... I pecked in a little all these authors. :P

I devoured a lot of heroic fantaisy. Then I read more consensual works.
Robert Merle
Bernard Weber.

In a completely different register, I recently swallowed a large part of the work
by Amadou Hampâté Ba. A great African sage.

I have most of them listed.
In the Philip K Dick there is a dreaming crystal.

There is also the universe of Ann Mac Caffrey, with the different cycles (pegasus, crystal singer, pern, ...)

If not to return to the film I saw it in 3D and I risk seeing it again to appreciate in more detail the visual universe.

The story is classic in itself, simple enough that you let yourself be carried by the universe without having to worry too much. But it still strikes a blow to the American model: for money I loot and I break everything. I have the gear, the weapons so I take by force what I covet, even if it means crushing people and destroying the environment.
It's Afghanistan, Iraq, the banana republics ...
We find the archetype of the US cowboy with his skull full of emptiness and who only wants to let the weapons speak, the administrator who washes his hands of everything provided that the shareholders are satisfied ...
A very good adventure, evoking a lot of universes, be it kaena the prophecy, final fantasy ...
If you can see it in 3D, don't hesitate a femtosecond.

And I almost forgot an essential:

Nathalie C Henneberg with her novel "La Plaie" and its sequel (more difficult to appreciate) "Le Dieu Foudroye"

Lietseu wrote:[...] my favorite author, Alfred E. Van Vogt born in 1912 !!! who wrote the excellent "In pursuit of the Slans"
"The cycles of A"
"The armories of Isher" etc .... a can loan 40 titles each more crazy than the other, it is not complicated, he invented almost all the universes that we see in the current and past films and I find it scandalous that we never website his name, even though he is one of the most prolific authors of good SF ...

I have somewhere an anthology of my favorite authors, I deliver it to everyone if you ask me, time to get my hands on it, it's a * .doc ...

Whaouuu, I thought I was the only one who still knew this author !! Unfortunately, it has become very difficult to get your books in bookstores, it is very little republished or not at all. I have read a very large part of his books, finally those that I have managed to obtain. Did you know that this author who was far ahead of his time was widely criticized at the time? It was considered to be downright mediocre until it ended up winning prize over prize :)
