Storms in Limburg and the province of Antwerp
Severe bad weather, accompanied by gales and hailstorms, raged early in the evening on Tuesday in the center and west of the province of Limburg and in the province of Antwerp.
In Halen, a youth camp tent was blown up and in Herk-la-Ville, a tree fell on the bivouac of a youth organization from Rotselaar, damaging several tents and other equipment. The emergency services struggled to answer phone calls, as many roofs had been damaged by hail. In Lint, in the province of Antwerp, a mast supporting a high-voltage electric line fell on a car, the driver of which had to be extricated by firefighters. He was taken to hospital. Elsewhere in the region, trees were uprooted, streets flooded, roofs and other power lines damaged. The towns of Duffel, Rumst and Koningshooikt were for a while without electricity. (NLE)
