Windows XP search function that bug !!!

by Christophe » 04/09/08, 18:10

Win Xp starts to binge on me but grates !! : Evil:

The search for "a word or an expression IN the file" seems to screw up ... this stupid XP gives me (search on .php) results "file name" and not "included in the file" ...

Anyone know this bug or it is me who is delusional or who has not activated an option ???

Could someone give it a try with a .php (.txt format renamed to .php)? Please?

ps: the manipulation worked nickel under 2000 ...

install cygwin (unix emulator under windows)
then find ...
find. -name "* .php" -exec grep -i foo {} \;
it's a bit barbaric but it works :D
the first "." it's to search from the directory you are in and it goes through the whole tree below the toto is the expression you are looking for

Yes a little too barbaric for my taste, it works with notepad ++ it's good! Thanks anyway!

It's still crazy this bug ... it's especially crazy that it has not been corrected !!

Well, it's "settled" ... at least for me!
