A large RUSTON engine "doped" at Ferté-Alais on the 7th

by Alex 56 » 20/05/08, 17:59

I just fitted a Ruston mono cylinder of, 19 bed
displacement, steam doping and it will be present
at Ferté-Alais for Locomotion en Fête.

Always the same principle as the R 21d: an exchanger (GV)
followed by a catalyst reactor.
All embedded in the exhaust pipe ... a
102 mm inner diameter pipe!

For those who do not live too far, this is an opportunity
get to know each other and discuss it firsthand.

See you soon.

Hello Alex56

At least you will not be taken .... by electronics .... : Mrgreen:
He works with rapeseed too ?!

Do you have the specifications of the engine, power bore race fuel system etc ... and a small crobar of the Gillier Pantome?

A reactor for a 19 liter engine is not common ... : Mrgreen:

For Ferté-Alais for Locomotion en Fête, when?

Hello
Nice engine, nice assembly, it should not turn fast 600rpm at most
it looks like a 4 stroke diesel we see the cam roller and valve
Mainly low pressure injection, compression too weak (14) therefore a bit like the old hot ball engines, the injector spits on a hot or badly cooled surface of the cylinder head
it is in these engines that formerly it sent a little water to improve the output, that should be a good candidate for doping with water, in more single cylinder cyclic suction low revolution, completely for doping with l 'water..

This must burn 5 to 6 liters per hour at 600rpm a 25 hp in continuous mode depending on the load, as it is in demonstration, I suppose it will run without load, so difficult to exploit the doping system.
Place a propeller in the steering wheel
Since you are there where they demonstrate old planes.

Bonjour à tous

Fly, locomotion is next June 7 and 8. I screwed up
in the header.

So for the displacement, I measured that with my meter at
ribbon!
Bore ... 230mm and stroke about 440mm.

André, the Ruston turns at 360 rpm when empty. But at La Ferté
He will drive a sawmill. He was there last year.
And it seems to me that it will be on the bill ... this year.

In any case empty, it does not consume much: 2 bed before
doping and 1,75 now with the reactor.
But it's not too precise because it took turns ...
with steam. No doubt, because of the lengthening of
combustion which must act as a torque supplement on
the flywheel ...?

The steering wheel weighs 2,100 tonnes!

Flytox, for the crobar, it will come. It's my friend Gérard
who manages.

A picture of the whole ...

Bonjour à tous

Full of ideas again ... 8) Excellent!

In addition, on this engine we must be able to make it also work in "Aquasole" with water mixed with fuel ... ??? A superb field of experience ....: Mrgreen:

It makes me think of the friend who just came back here:

Finally there, it's just to restore. (Besides, if someone has info on the beast we are takers ... : Mrgreen: )

I had the privilege of seeing "the beast". I confirm: it's impressive !! A great job from Alex56 and Jo, his colleague.

For all those who can, do not miss the presentation at La Ferté-Allais. For the others, there will be a catch-up session on June 28, during a day on water doping, in the Paimpont forest (and there will be no need for the local enchanter to see systems that work !!!)
