Metallic sodium

by Cayenne51 » 11/12/07, 14:55

Hello

This can be an alternative renewable fuel useful for something (for example the submarine) ...

Na + H2O -> NaOH + 1/2 H2 Enthalpy = 184 kj

Metallic sodium is liquid above 100 ° C ...
It can heat water in a cylinder with piston ...
Water creates a pressure of the vapor which pushes the piston ...
It can create a formidable force! ...

The question is

Is it ecological? ...

And sprinkled with water it fires you in the face, beautiful idea indeed: it is you who is at the origin of the super Phoenix breeder? : Mrgreen:

Let's say that sodium could be an energy carrier like hydrogen.
We make a hydrolysis of sodium chloride to recover sodium and chlorine gas - not glop ... After must store the metallic sodium, without it being in contact with air (oxidation) or water (inflammation , explosion) or of the manipulators' skin (severe burns).
After, it would be necessary to regulate the hydration to release heat (possibly lost because today on our vehicles the heat is always it-except heating of the passenger compartment) and H2 which would be used as fuel.
And to fill up? Would we buy water and sodium breads? It's like saying, the C4 explodes, but a very small amount it burns and therefore it is a fuel ...
Dangerous, dangerous, ...

It is true that it is extremely dangerous BUT at least you are thinking about finding new energies !!!

Go on like this and maybe you will find ZE idea that will change everything !!!
