Ah yes super to illustrate the evolutions of flow and the average speed to avoid the phenomenon of cork ....

Is there a combination to solve the question posed above?

Well if all the bikers rolled one behind the other in a straight line without ever doubling or slowing down ... they could all ride at 80 km / h.

As we can see with the simulator, when the traffic is quite dense (in groups for example), it suffices to slow down (even light) of a single vehicle at the beginning of the group (at the end of the turn or because another which has just doubled before him, ...) to cause a significant slowdown in those behind.

So that the latter are not slowed down, it is therefore necessary that the former never “hamper” those who follow them.

However, the first do not roll at 110 km / h on average (If that was the case, they would arrive several minutes before the last), but their accelerations must be more pronounced and their braking lighter, which gives them the impression of driving faster.

Great Gaston !! I'm having fun for a few minutes with ... and with my little one too !!

3 flat for this to be perfect (in my eyes) it is missing:

a) sound (to estimate noise pollution)
b) indicators on air pollution (relative to km.vehicle or km.Tonnes displaced)
(c) indicators on vehicle wear (over-wear per km) ...

We can even add red lights and cones! :) Too bad it lacks a few cones

Electric cars: an Asian manufacturer chooses Belgium for its 1ère usine Européenne

AFP 19 Oct 2018

The Taiwanese manufacturer Thunder Power, specializing in electric vehicles, will establish near Charleroi (southern Belgium) its first European plant, according to an agreement signed Friday with the Walloon region.

This implementation, a project estimated at 175 million, will be done in Gosselies (south) on the former site of Caterpillar Belgium, a business name synonymous with trauma in this region.

In September 2016, the US manufacturer of construction equipment announced the closure of its only Belgian plant, resulting in the removal of 2.000 jobs.

From now on, this vast industrial site will host the manufacture of the "Chloé", a small city electric car with a range of 350 km, unveiled on Friday in Belgium "on a world exclusive basis", announced in a joint press release the manufacturer and Sogepa, financial arm of the Walloon region.

Production could start as early as the 4th quarter of 2020, with the objective of reaching "initially" a rate of 30.000 vehicles per year.

The Thunder Power Electric Vehicle (TPEV) firm, founded in 2011, explains "currently raising funds to the tune of $ 400 million" (EUR 348 million) to develop its activity in China and Europe, in particular in partnership with "an important Chinese investment fund ".

In Gosselies, add the two entities, the aim is to "set up a research center and a production line for electric cars intended for the European market".

Currently TPEV is established in China, Taiwan and Milan (Italy), where is located a research and development center of the firm. According to the Belgian press, this center will be relocated to Gosselies.

"In the short term, 350 (jobs) full-time equivalent will be created. In the longer term, 4.000 jobs, including many in research and development, could be realized thanks to this project", specify Thunder Power and Sogepa.

Sogepa is an investor up to 50 million euros at first, he said.

Electric and hybrid cars currently represent about 2% of the European car fleet.

Volkswagen adapts three German factories to electric cars

Reuters 14 / 11 / 2018 FRANKFURT

Volkswagen redevelops its plants in Emden, Hanover and Zwickau as part of the launch of mass production of electric vehicles in Germany.

The automaker has offered job guarantees to 2028 to employees of the first two sites and will invest 1,2 billion euros in training employees of that of Zwickau, in eastern Germany.

The German group said Wednesday it would start assembling electric cars for three of its brands in Zwickau from the late 2019.

Some 7.700 employees at the Zwickau site are trained in the assembly of the Volkswagen ID, the first car produced on the MEB platform of the group for electric vehicles. A crossover ID Crozz should follow.

By the end of 2020, the Zwickau site will have a production capacity of 1.500 vehicles per day, or six electric models, said the group.

VW enters into a contract with Korea SKI for car batteries.

VW contracts Korea SKI to supply battery cells

November 13, 2018 // By Christoph Hammerschmidt

SK Innovation (SKI), Volkswagen has nominated another strategic supplier for e-vehicles based on the Modular Electrification System (MEB). SKI will cover the demand for North America and part of the demand for the production of all-electric vehicles of the Volkswagen Group in Europe.

Image

As part of "Roadmap E", the Volkswagen Group brands (Audi, SEAT, Porsche, Volkswagen, and Skoda as well as the luxury brands Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini) is planning to put initially 50 new all-electric vehicle models on the road by 2025. To equip its own electric fleet, the Group will need a battery capacity of more than 150 GWh per year by 2025. This corresponds to an annual capacity of at least four "gigafactories" for battery cells. For Europe, Volkswagen has brought on board LG Chem, Samsung and SKI as strategic suppliers. From 2019, battery supply will be ensured with these partners. From 2022, SKI will also cover the Group's North American market requirements. The strategic partner in China is CATL, which will supply the batteries for the Group's own electric vehicles there from 2019.

With the move, Volkswagen completes the list of the most important strategic battery packs for equipping the Group's electric fleet in the most important regions of the world.

Coming back from a week's work in the capital, I took the opportunity to talk to native people : Mrgreen: and especially the electric car since Paris seems the ideal target for these cars.

Contrary to what I thought were not the echoes that were transmitted to me by the Parisians (to hear Paris metropolis)

Among the main obstacle the problem of charging, indeed to recharge his car at night must have a flag inside the ground which you can recharge your car at night safely.

So for Parisians who live in an apartment it is difficult to consider charging their car at night.
And for the happy owners who would like to equip the small inner courtyards of terminals it clashes with the hostility / veto of the other co owners not concerned

If the distances are small in km however they are long in time and that "the salesmen do not tell you it" (sic).
The car can actually do 200km but not 60km in the daytime with 4h of headlights turned on, wipers and heating, not to mention the radio and other touch screens consuming energy.

A failure of juice on the device (experience lived) in the evening 20h in the caps is hell and it costs an arm .... in troubleshooting because the insurance does not support it.

At the level of gossip of the kind I have a friend who .....
It seems that often these electric cars are bought as a second vehicle for Ms. who "can not manage autonomy": in short, it must work (of course without taking care of anything) and that it heats (rather strong) and that it defiles the windshield ... that it recharges the phone ... etc and when it breaks down well the car "goes through the window" and Mrs. never wants to touch it again.

In short, I fell a little bit from above.

Finally the small electric is perhaps better in campaign and dispersed habitat : Mrgreen:

[In pictures] In London, RATP Dev plugs BYD electric buses

Olivier Cognasse Factory New the 16 / 11 / 2018

RATP Dev inaugurated Thursday November 15 the electrical bus depot of Shepherd's Bush. A first for the French operator who operates about 40 BYD electric buses in the British capital.

The fifth largest bus operator out of fifteen in London, RATP Dev is a tenant or owner of ten depots and, above all, it operates 1 258 bus for the organizing authority, TFL (Transport for London) on the 8 700 that circulate in the city. A configuration that could resemble that of Greater Paris from 2025, when the bus lines will be put in competition.

Thursday November 15, in West London, the first deposit to dispose of electric terminals was inaugurated. The Shepherd's Bush site was equipped between June and September and the first electric bus hit the road on October 1er. Today, 36 electric buses for the lines C1 and 70 are therefore exploited by the French carrier on the 136 which circulate in London, to which must be added the four which roll in Hounslow, in the southwest of the city. A good ratio when we know that RATP Dev only realizes 12% market share, far enough from the British leader Go Ahead (24%). However, the UK is RATP Dev's second largest market (322 million) and there is no question of neglecting it.

Image

An alliance between BYD and Alexander Dennis

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan (Labor Party) has pledged to develop a low emission zone in the center of the capital. But the goal for clean buses is later than in Paris, where the fleet must be converted by 2025 (electric, biogas and some hybrids). In London, the target is 2037 and the British seem to be betting heavily on hydrogen. Even "if TFL is considering an acceleration towards clean buses", specifies Laurence Battle, president of the management board of RATP Dev. London has set a target of zero emissions by 2050 and 80% of walking, cycling and public transport by 2041.

RATP Dev chose the British Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) and the Chinese BYD to provide the buses and install the charging units. The buses produced in China arrive in parts on the British Isles and are assembled in Scotland. They can ride 200 kilometers. In general, they drive eight hours and return with 30 or 40% of their load. Four hours of charging time is enough to put the batteries back to 100%.

No doubt that when the first major Parisian tender will be known - 400 million and about a thousand buses - the name of BYD will come back to worry the European manufacturers.

Tesla to launch construction of "giga-factory" in China

AFP the 07 Jan 2019

The founder and boss of US automaker Tesla, Elon Musk, announced Monday the imminent start of the construction of an electric car factory in Shanghai, which will give him full access to the Chinese market, the largest in the world.

“We look forward to starting the process of building the @Tesla Shanghai giga-factory today!” Musk wrote on his official Twitter account.

"The goal is to complete construction this summer, begin production of the Model 3 at the end of the year and achieve high production volumes next year," Elon Musk also tweeted.

According to Chinese media reports, the boss of Tesla is expected to attend the Shanghai kick-off ceremony.

This announcement comes as a US delegation is in Beijing to try to end the trade war between the two countries.

In July, Tesla announced its intention to build a plant with an annual production capacity of over 500.000 cars in China, its first out of the United States, to give it direct access to the dynamic car market electric Chinese without fearing the fallout of Sino-US trade disputes.

While the two countries were bidding to raise tariffs for their respective products, China had targeted especially cars and auto parts last summer.

In December, in the context of the commercial truce decided by the two countries, Beijing has however announced the suspension of these customs surcharges on cars and parts imported from the United States.

Even with a foot implanted locally, competition will remain tough for Tesla in China, in an economic environment more gloomy than it was in July.

Apple plunged last week the major financial centers in the red with a warning on results, citing the slowdown in the Chinese economy.

However, the power transmission sector is expected to continue to grow in China, encouraged by the Chinese government's efforts to combat chronic air pollution.

According to Bloomberg, the plant will cost some 5 billion.

Tesla has assured that it will own 100% while China normally imposes joint ventures with a local partner in the production plants with, as a result, sharing of profits and technologies.

A spokesman for Tesla declined to comment in the immediate future.
