No reason to close them. What an idea.

EDF prepares to extend Fessenheim's operation
Published 31 / 07 / 2018
The closure of the Fessenheim power station was to coincide with the start of the Flamanville EPR (Manche), previously planned for the end of 2018 but which the group had recently had to postpone for one year.
EDF, which had already put itself in a position to operate Fessenheim until next summer, said Tuesday on its website that the No. 1 and No. 2 reactors of the plant would be in scheduled stops from 19 January to 20 March 2019 and 18 May at 17 July respectively.
While the fuel loading of the EPR Flamanville was expected end of December 2018, EDF said Wednesday that the transaction would finally take place in the fourth quarter 2019 and raised the target construction cost of 10,5 project to 10,9 billion euros due to the forthcoming recovery of around 50 welds.

Nuclear: the stop of Fessenheim no longer depends on the opening of Flamanville

The Minister of Ecological Transition François de Rugy no longer necessarily conditions the closure of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant at the start of the Flamanville nuclear power plant. The construction site of the future EPR plant is experiencing a series of setbacks that are disrupting its launch schedule.

Mouahahahhahaha how was it stitched with white thread ...

"Of which only the date remains uncertain"... ah these gentlemen journalists, but no, you do not use the right words:
It's called a state AMHA sodomy!
Perhaps we will one day have a more just and democratic society if the broken election promises were punishable!
If I went into politics this would be the 1er point of my program (What what? A policy wants to promise better? ... )
Fessenheim: the government will have to issue a new decree to close the power plant
The Council of State canceled the decree taken in 2017, but this decision does not call into question the shutdown of the two Alsatian reactors.
It is another rebound in the series of the closure of the Alsatian nuclear power plant in Fessenheim. On Thursday October 25, the Council of State canceled the decree of the 8 April 2017 which repealed the operating license for this facility. The government will have to take a new decree in this direction, but this new event does not change the announced shutdown of the two reactors of the Upper Rhine, of which only the date remains uncertain.

Re: non-closure of the Fessenheim plant, where is the scam of the negotiations?
It's just a delay due to a procedural flaw, no matter how EDF did nothing to endure the site
After Fessenheim is even in preparation https://www.24heures.ch/monde/etat-prep ... y/24365589
https://www.24heures.ch/monde/Decret-su ... y/24950576Local authorities, including the municipality of Fessenheim, and some unions had filed appeals that ultimately resulted in Thursday's decision.
By the end of the five-year period
Nothing now prevents the current government, which has taken up the promise of closing the oldest nuclear power plant still in operation, to issue a new decree respecting this time the procedure as recalled by the Council of Europe. 'State.
The executive promises to put Fessenheim off by the end of the five-year period without necessarily waiting, as before, the start of the EPR Flamanville in the Channel.

Some unions are not EDF maybe? We can play on the words if you want, who benefits from the "crime"? (like the crime syndicates ... good slip in this case ...)
Bin yes, have to pay the multi-ownership of EdF employees ...

Re: non-closure of the Fessenheim plant, where is the scam of the negotiations?
Fessenheim: despite the cancellation of the decree, the nuclear power plant will close well by 2022
The Council of State has annulled the decree taken on the closure of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant. This one will close well of 2022, reacted the minister of the ecological transition François de Rugy.
25 oct 2018 Europe1 AFP
Fessenheim will close in 2022. This is what the Minister of Ecological Transition François de Rugy confirmed in a tweet. "The closure is irreversibly triggered," he also said. He was reacting to the decision of the Council of State which annulled "the decree of April 8, 2017 repealing the authorization to operate the Fessenheim nuclear power plant". The high administrative court justifies its decision by the fact that "the repeal of an authorization to operate an electricity production installation can only take place at the request of its holder", ie EDF.
The government of the time did not wait for the formal request from EDF to publish its decree. The electrician had announced to wait for the commissioning of the EPR Flamanville (Channel). The decree was then attacked by local authorities, including the municipality of Fessenheim, as well as the unions CFE-CGC Energies and FO Energies et Mines.
A new decree will be taken
At the hearing at the Council of State, on October 12, the public rapporteur declared himself in favor of the annulment of the decree, judging that "the legal vice" seemed to him "too serious to ignore". "This proposal has nothing to do with the merits" of the closure of the nuclear power plant, he was quick to clarify. "This is not to say that we cannot close Fessenheim," he said.
François de Rugy has also specified that "a new decree will be taken in due course". Annoyed by the delays at Flamanville, the government now also wants to separate the fate of Fessenheim from the start of the EPR. "Today we are forced to consider not doing both operations at the same time," said François de Rugy in early October. "EDF is not able to give us a date, and the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) either, on the opening of Flamanville", he then regretted.
In fact, EDF officially plans to start the Flamanville EPR at the end of 2019, for commercial commissioning in 2020. But the site is affected by welding problems which still require "significant technical work", warned the 'ASN. As regards Fessenheim, ASN has also warned that its two reactors will have to cease operating no later than 2020 and 2022 respectively.

Nuclear: the two reactors of Fessenheim will close in February and June 2020 according to Emmanuelle Wargon
AFP 26 September 2019
"The reactors will close for the first of them in February 2020, for the second in June" of the same year, said Ms. Wargon in Colmar. These dates differ slightly from those put forward last February by the then Minister for the Ecological Transition, François de Rugy, who then mentioned a closure of the first reactor in March 2020, and in August 2020 for the second.
Mrs Wargon presided Thursday in Colmar the fourth steering committee for the future of the territory of Fessenheim. Signed the 1er February, the project aims to anticipate, especially in economic and social terms, the impact of the closure of the plant on the Fessenheim region. This plant, which generates significant tax revenues for communities, directly employs 850 employees of EDF and about 350 permanent employees of companies providing services.

Yeah ... 2 ads contradictory AFP ... it feels the circle ... (OK there is 1 years of lag).
And to announce the closure only a few months later, I find that not very credible ... given the "stakes and inertia involved ...
