We are a bit far from gardening but this evening for the 1st time I heard the song of an insect ... impossible to identify it
Also impossible to record it with the means at hand so I will try to describe it
In fact it is not so much a song, in any case not at all a continuous cricket style song.
It is rather a kind of single beep and quite sharp but not strident which repeats itself every X seconds (about 5 on average)
Oddly enough it reminds me of Caribbean nights ...
Do you have an idea of the creature that emits this sound?
Thank you

Given your location (04), do a search with Eugryllodes pipiens, the tested Cricket, that may be it.

Insect or batrachian? You were talking about the West Indies, "not so far from there", there is Guyana and there are tiny frogs doing this kind of "cry / song" down there. They are very difficult to locate (their ratio (deciBel / size) is impressive). We must have the equivalent at home !?

I want to tell you a priori no because the frogs we hear them very well down to the river and we are rather high but hey ... I do not rule out the option ...

Bingo is the tested cricket .... thank you
Not easy to find solo ... the only extract I found is there
http://www.promeneursecoutant.fr/article.php?id=96
As indicated in the description, it is somewhat covered by the Ephippigères des vignes,
If someone finds a recording where you hear it alone I am interested
There would be one there but I can't read the sound (or else it's gone)
