Hydroelectric DIY 10w

by mayhem12 » 02/07/16, 13:12

Bonjour,

I'm looking for a permanent magnet alternator 400rpm max, 12v, 10w wind turbine type.

In my case it would be a tidal turbine with a non-submerged alternator of this type:

Here is the only alternator I found which is rather expensive:

where

I want to stay in the 400rpm to avoid the gears with a minimal weight and a good yield, what do you recommend?

please : Cheesy:

Example of a 5w portable tidal turbine: blue freedom (youtube)

I found a vertical wind generator PMG 400rpm 15w 12v 1.15kg
(problem; it is a complete wind turbine kit 150 euros on alibaba bof)

the price is not my main concern, but especially the yield> 80%, the weight <1kg
and ideally a vertical alternator designed for sustainable outdoors 8) : Cheesy:

I thought of a brushless motor + rectifier but at 400rpm we do not reach 10w 12v with an efficiency> 80%?
unless there are brushless experts here?

I also heard about a stepper motor used as an alternator but the performance must be poor?

10 W is not huge. It takes at least 4 days to produce the equivalent of 15 cents in EDF equivalent. A bicycle dynamo will do the trick :|
