Need advice on choosing a diode bridge

by titiyador » 15/11/14, 21:31

Hello to you,

Having built a 200w "Piggott" type wind turbine, I have to rectify the current which leaves the machine which is in three-phase direct current to send it to a regulator.

The problem is that I do not know if a diode bridge that indicates values such as 1000v, 40A are maximum input values or not. For the machine I would be in 12v and about 16 to 17A max.

Would the following diode bridge be suitable for example? http://www.amazon.fr/gp/aw/d/B00L11K0Y8 ... SY200_QL40

Thanks in advance.

To read to you, Tim.

Hello,
The link does not work but it seems to me a good margin of safety.
They do not talk about it in the manual of tripalium ?

yes, you need a three-phase bridge has 6 diodes and the values are always maxi. so no worries if you have lower values.

Hello to you and thank you for your answers.

Not in the book of tripalium they simply say that it takes a diode bridge and show a picture, but without further details including values. Good after the calculation for the maxi values is easy to do: 200w Max in 12v gives about 17A that I will round to 20 or 30 to be painard;)

And thank you Dirk Pitt for the clear answer!

Tim.

small detail: the three-phase diode bridge are often much more expensive than the single bridge: so I never buy it: I put 2 single bridge, output in parale, 2 phase enter one and a phase on the other : it's exactly the same pattern and the total price is lower

for stronger currents, I put 3 diode bridge, and each phase arrives on the input 2borne in parallel: each bridge receives a phase

it allows me to put everywhere the same 600V bridge model 30A
