Transforming power plant cooling towers!

Renewable energies except solar electric or thermal (seeforums dedicated below): wind turbines, energy from the sea, hydraulic and hydroelectricity, biomass, biogas, deep geothermal energy ...

Transforming power plant cooling towers!

by netshaman » 06/10/09, 10:22

I wondered if it was possible to convert the cooling towers of nuclear power plants or the like into a "vortex" tower.
If the updraft is powerful enough why not put a few wind turbines to enjoy a clean energy time length?
Unless it stops if there is no more water to cool?
I'm good or not?

Many people have already worked on the subject:

The solar towers of Edgar Nazare 30 years ago and more recently these vortex tower projects.

Do a search on solar tower

That is the question: do people who produce 1200 or 1350 MW per reactor are willing to invest to produce next to 100 MW ???

We even do the opposite! At the Avoine power station in Chinon (where I worked), for aesthetic reasons we made 4 cooling towers of low height each equipped with 18 huge fans!
