If I understood correctly, one of the aims of the process is to transform the sugar into oil instead of allowing it to ferment and distill it into ethanol. Why not, if the circuit is more direct. It will benefit the diesels.
But we must not fall into the agrofuels trap. The sugar industry residues alone will obviously not be enough. It will also be necessary to transform the biomass (resulting from photosynthesis which remains essential, despite its very low yield) into sugar assimilated by algae.

Using photosynthesis, that is to say solar energy, to cultivate edible algae is obviously a process full of future, still insufficiently used.
