Lower VAT on cars and real estate? A joke?

Current Economy and Sustainable Development-compatible? GDP growth (at all costs), economic development, inflation ... How concillier the current economy with the environment and sustainable development.

Lower VAT on cars and real estate? A joke?

by Christophe » 26/11/08, 13:12

So here I am on the ass! Against the recession and while governments are "bankrupt" (especially during press conferences), the EU is proposing a "general" reduction in VAT on ... cars and real estate! : Evil: : Evil:

In short, 2 big sectors which have and which still generate billions of billions of profits ...So after the various subsidies, we now offer them VAT? What is this joke and their previous profits where are they? Evaporated in a tax haven? : Evil:

We've been talking about reduced VAT for years on "green" products such as energy-saving light bulbs ... obviously nothing comes!

I believe that the environment and the econology are still well fucked!

Finally it is not yet passed ... it remains a proposal but still ... disgusted!

ps: this is a good example of the impact of European lobbyists! We are really taken for shit by these Image guys there ...

There are a number of us !!!

But first a nuance: the reduction in VAT does not "benefit" companies. It boosts sales, and therefore indirect profit. Especially on cash, by reducing stocks ... Now given the sluggishness of consumption, I wonder if this will have a strong impact. I don't know how much they will drop, a new car will remain expensive!

It must be seen that the cars are already sold off (see for example on websites, - 25%, including on "quite" demanded and recent models such as the new Twingo! Unheard of!). So 5% or even 10% less VAT, will this change behavior ???

Indeed, that raises questions. While for budgetary reasons, we are reducing aid for LPG, soon to pellet boilers ... As you said, no reduced VAT for "eco" products ... but for the car. Pretext: unemployment!

And all that, right after the Grenelle of the environment

It will boost the manufacturers' finances because they will not believe that the price of cars for sale will drop or the price will drop a little bit.
They will take refuge behind the fact that times are also hard for them and that it is necessary to compensate ...

So, I agree with Christophe!
