Re: Burning plastics: not so polluting combustion?

by chatelot16 » 03/06/18, 09:18

except the pvc which risks making dioxin, burning PE PE and PET is much better than leaving them lying around until it ends up at sea

remains to know how to burn it ... it's like fuel oil or wood: in a good boiler it does not pollute ... burn no matter how basically your it lacks air and it makes big smoke black of unburned particles

for me the first solution available is to mix pasta waste with crushed wood used as fuel

the solution that remains to be built is gasification (gasifier) it burns even more cleanly than a simple hearth: it can even burn pvc without making dioxin: it is the solution of the future not necessarily at the individual level or it would be too complicated but with a large number of factories capable of recovering all plastic waste

the criticism of the combustion of plastic dates from a time when there was a lot of PVC ... time when almost all plastic bottles were pvc ... now PVC is much rarer in packaging
