Cool but I wonder if it is not a little too much to discover and too close to the zumains.
They are very small wild mammals. in the study I had spent, the highest number of nest boxes was in the middle of the forest and their presence was betrayed only by the faeces found on site.

Yes good note I thought about this too close ... that can be disturbing in 2 sense.
I think there were some who were nipping for a moment at the level of the same balcony, because I found dung on this balcony. It was not much further than the nest box ...
In short, we'll see. The specialists I met told me that it was enough for one to find the shelter to attract others quickly, so you have to be patient ...
So wait & see ...

Re: Construction of a shelter, house, birdhouse at Chauves-Souris
That night around midnight, I heard little noises coming from the shelter.
It sounded like chirps of chicks but less strong and less regular, I was falling asleep so I did not look closer.
I checked this morning, there is no nest in the roof opening but I did not dare to open the shelter to observe (beautiful sun today) if there was life in it by afraid to disturb the first possible occupants. I prefer to wait a few days until the colony settles well.
I would watch tonight from outside at dusk if there is life ...

It's exactly that kind of noise that I heard, but I have not yet seen bat on takeoff ....
I will try to open the shelter ... one evening at sunset so as not to disturb them too much (if they are there)

Yes raise mosquitoes!
Good without laughing, I read during my research in recent days that an apple placed near the birdhouse could attract them, but the 2 specialists I met this Sunday say no and that it can take several years for the nest box is occupied ... especially if the biotop around is favorable (forest at 200m) ...
Well I took my courage with 2 hands (and 2 feet and 1 rope) and I mounted the shelter on the balcony, not an easy task ... since I was alone!
Good, it's done!
The birdhouse remains hopelessly empty after several seasons…I will move it to the oak…
