Europe finances a giant battery to store energy

Renewable energies except solar electric or thermal (seeforums dedicated below): wind turbines, energy from the sea, hydraulic and hydroelectricity, biomass, biogas, deep geothermal energy ...

Regardless of the storage efficiency (which may be very good), that of the electrolysis and the fuel cell is poor.

I think this "battery" should not return 50% of the energy supplied :?

80% Electrolysis 93% McPhy storage 60% heat pump and 95% efficiency of the electric car
Or 42%
For the accumulator 70% for charge-discharge and 95% efficiency of the electric car, i.e. 67%
The efficiency of the gasoline energy chain is around 10% ...

So if we eliminate the car, the Electrolysis -> Storage -> Fuel cell efficiency comes to 0.8 * 0.93 * 0.6 = 0.45.

45% is still very little for a storage device :x
