Hello everyone,
I relaunch this post today because I have news about my research on "a modern sail wind turbine".
Following the reading of this forum, a retired engineer who had participated in the design of the turbo-sails of Commander Cousteau's last boat: "the Alcyone", contacted me directly to encourage me to try to also use the Magnus effect on the Soupl'éole taking advantage of the depression created by centrifugal force and accelerated by the Venturi effect at the end of its hollow sails.
I admit that I took a little time to do so since this suggestion is more than a year old, but I do not regret to have recovered lately DIY because the result of these turbo-blades is more than convincing. I lack sophisticated means to compare with the basic model (the only wind tunnel I have is ... the Mistral) but with the naked eye (and with the ammeter) this turbo-blade variant is very effective.
See the "Operation" page of my site on Soupl'Eole:

Thanks to this forum for having allowed me to receive this judicious advice.
I take this opportunity to reiterate a call to readers self-builders who could help me further improve this new concept by building a Soupl'éole themselves. Unfortunately, I do not have the place or the neighbors sufficiently convinced of the interest of the renewable energies, to be able to make one in full size.

Very seductive and as effective as pretentious wind turbines and scams, placed in the eddies around houses with yield split by 5!

Photo of the AR of a turbo-blade of Soupl'eole with Magnus effect. One can see there the lateral vent of its end and the perforations where the aspiration takes place that recites the air streams on its extrados.

Congratulations to Lord Francis For are work and for its website which is clear and very interesting. It really makes you want to embark on the adventure.
The visit of the site is essential!

There have been advances in the concept of Francis but this thread is silent since 2010. So, little UP.
Among the innovations, there is the pale turbo magnus effect (very ingenious), the double wind in the opposite direction (cancellation of vibrations and gyroscopic effects), the assembly in series or in parallel (I love the idea of the tree), etc.

So, Francis, give us some news!

Hello FPLM,
Indeed, I haven't given much "news" since 2010, but I take small steps, I have other mainly associative occupations while sailing very often, and I admit that I can stay months without tinkering with my "Soupl'éole" again.
That said, my last prototype using the Magnus effect seems to me interesting enough and effective for you to have pointed it out by raising this post.
As for the choice that I made, two years ago, to publish this little invention directly on the Internet under "creative commons", rather than filing a patent, I welcome this every day by receiving emails from all over the world.
For the moment, I mainly receive messages of encouragement, some sound technical advice (such as using the Magnus effect) and especially congratulations for having distributed my research in "open source" (mainly from Anglo -saxons ...).
Despite this, I expected to receive more self-builders ready to embark on a Soupl'éole that could help me to improve this concept concretely.
Yet this manufacture seems very easy. A friend, a techno teacher, even built a microphone with dynamo bike hub to his students 5 th without any difficulties ...
Obviously, while regularly updating my site, I will continue to feed this post as soon as I have new. thank you all for your encouragements.

Hello Francis,
Whew, that's good news then.
Indeed, there is no doubt that "hardware" open source enjoys the same advantages as open source software (as well as the same disadvantages). The latter's success is a good source of inspiration for the organization of "hardware" open source networks.
I hope that the generous diffusion of your invention will also give rise to numerous experiments.
I also believe this project (with its improvements) quite successful, simple and inexpensive to interest the community of self-builders of all kinds.
Good continuation.
