Wind turbine funnels

Renewable energies except solar electric or thermal (seeforums dedicated below): wind turbines, energy from the sea, hydraulic and hydroelectricity, biomass, biogas, deep geothermal energy ...

I knew the wind turbines of the centrifugal turbine types which have a better output than the helical wind turbines. They make less noise at low speeds and produce more current when the wind blows violently at more than 80km / h ... I believe that traditional wind turbines have an upward power curve up to 80km / h of wind and then they stagnating.
However, they are frankly ugly.

hihihihi

I also sent an email to the author, I got the same answer :))

Hello,
You need a ratchet wheel so that it does not turn like buckets, and serve as a primer by letting the pressure increase in the funnel.
That said, it is not necessarily interesting as a return.

In theory it can work .... because this wind turbine uses the principle of Bernouilli's law and the venturi system
(for the curious http://www.ac-nancy-metz.fr/enseign/physique/PHYS/Term/Mecaflu/Poly-mecaflu.htm)

But I still have a big doubt for the performance of this pretty "garden animation".

In short it makes me think a little about the perpetual movement ..... !!

If it works is that it was done by an electrician; if it does not work .... so call an electrician!

It is a matter of taste, I personally find it rather aesthetic.
I already had the opportunity to walk by the sea to Noirmoutier where there is a wind farm, and I find it majestic and entertaining.

But we understand that it does not please everyone!

I find that it is rather to close the subject which would be sterile!

From the moment that the speakers show respect for each other, where is the harm in exchanging points of view? It is rather enriching, whatever the personal conviction of each one about this "invention" ...

Very funny as a hypothesis! But waiting for the gusts to compress the air in the cone and for a valve to maintain the pressure while waiting for the gusts to subside so that the reaction of the air released by the nozzle finally propels the turbine, seems to me from the highest comical!
Not to mention the gas plant that must be all these cones with their valve, their pawl, and other mechanisms! : Cry:
Finally, have fun : Lol:

OK for the aesthetic aspect that can be discussed, :frown: although these wind turbines in question are often stopped I think :!: but ... I still love it as much as there is none on the island ... :!:

What is the noise emitted by such a wind turbine?

Indeed, between the noise of pawls, flaps and turbulence between the difference in speed of the ambient air and the air escaping from the cones, it could be that this wind turbine is not one of the quietest ...

test of a gadget model

by rafpantone » 21/01/06, 20:15

I made a small model with 4 plastic funnels fixed to an axis which is placed vertically in a non-return pawl of rear pigrons of the bicycle, plus a fan to generate wind.
actually it can turn in the non-logical direction when we manage to orient the wind well. With a variable wind naturally the contraption is more likely to turn in the logical direction, but as it cannot because of the non-return pawl, there are fairly brutal knocks on the pawl which at the long risk of farting.
4 funnels seems to me insufficient it would be much more for example 12 put one right behind the other.

jelupan EconoPadawan level 1 (great!),
Gaz factory ? And the 4-cylinder internal combustion engine + fuel tank (bad for the senses) + gearbox + clutch that you use every day (+ or - well), isn't this a "gas factory"?
Speaking of gas, we can also compare funnels to pressurized volcanoes ... unless you don't like it, of course. } ;-)
ex-océano Moderator,
as for the noise, it will be that of an engine. One must know what one wants.
Tatata… {: -o
rafpantone I posted 10 messages!,
thank you for this first slightly more serious observation of the "contraption".
