generator machine drum
the idea will not be bad, a grid of old shopping trolley or fence fixed on the front of the raft up below the blades, so that the objects will pass under the raft and be dragged by the current along the fence without touching the blades.
at the level of visual pollution, it's when you make a dam two meters high.

Well that's why it has to be "self-cleaning" that is to say in a chevron or inclined ...
Real mills have such grids, do not they?

I do not believe that the grids are so "self-cleaning" that that, because if there really existed a system which makes it possible to release the grid only by the force of the current, all the points of collection of water in river, that this either for turbines or for irrigation, would not be equipped with an electric "screeding" system (a kind of mechanical arm which regularly scrapes the grid to extract everything that has accumulated there)

You speak of that one I presume:
We had already "proposed" it wasn't you already at the time?
I had already said at the time that it was not Kaplan, the Kaplan is that: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbine_Kaplan it is a "propeller".
Pelton and Francis are the 2 other types of hydraulic turbines currently used.

Even nuclear power plants are experiencing pangs related to objects in waterways.
The following article is quite interesting and shows that the origin of the possible accidents in a nuclear power plant is very varied.

EDF triggered the 1er 2 December night its internal emergency plan. At issue: large branches carried by the Rhone, which obstructed the supply of the safety cooling system of one of the four reactors of the Cruas nuclear power plant.
