yes for the stepper motor, better to turn to a tracker (mini eole board) ...

you can use a bicycle dynamo ...

or buy the generator, you have new ones on ebay special wind turbines ;-)
a good ebay "wind turbine equipment" site ;-) ;-)

100% agree with you, but there is more:
The law : Shock:
A wind turbine with blades, cannot fall on the neighbor ...
It is much easier to install a vertical wind turbine ... which will not fall on the neighbor, because of the dimensions which are smaller (personal opinion)
This is my "why I love" which touches on Hazardine's ideas

yes respect for the environment in the broad sense also requires respect for the neighbor and the landscape and to offer solutions adaptable to multiple situations for all!

Hello

For lovers of self-construction and experimentation with horizontal axis wind turbines (which are no longer fashionable it seems) I remind you of some subjects that I opened on my personal experience:

Good reading

The concept is interesting (I had already seen in the past, I think)
What grieves me, I have not seen a video of the project in real operation.
The second question, the inventor speaks of a maximum power reached more quickly (compared to the wind) ... yes, but at exactly what speed.

To answer the questions, I saw the first prototype ... But not in motion!
By cons I know that it was tested in the wind tunnel, and that the results were very promising ...
What is impressive in this concept is the pressure exerted by the wind on each panel.
Try to walk around with a 1 m² sign when there is a wind of 60 km an hour for example, you will have some difficulties getting around ...
Keep in mind that in his case, these are three panels that receive the wind at the same time and what is more, they are more than 1 m²!
I do not think it is very difficult to imagine the results in terms of torque that can be exerted on the generator which will be mounted below sheltered from the freezing of rain etc.
with the best regards from Lietseu who is going to sleep!

Bonsoir a tous

First of all I would like to say a big thank you for your replies ...

I would like to know if I should accée my research towards a small stepper motor to evolve thereafter or directly attack in the biggest at my risk and peril? Because if I can't do it, what can I do?

Do you know if there are any small modifications to a stepper motor to use it as a generator?

I have not yet studied the question of the stepper motor, and in fact that does not interest me much because for me the interesting thing is to make a very powerful wind turbine, the style of wind turbine which would produce current for all family...
Frankly I wonder why you would not use a car or truck alternator, which will still allow you to generate quite a bit of current.
Keep in mind that it is possible to convert 12 V or 24 V into 220 ...
Or more practically, that it is quite possible to light up with a low voltage 12 V network!
Suddenly, everything becomes much simpler, since low voltage lighting already exists, and that in the automotive field you can find a lot of elements for the constitution of your small EDF network to you, hey, hey ...
And all this for not too expensive!
I also take advantage of this space to ask the question to connoisseurs: "can we consider that an alternator absorbs the energy it produces, in mechanical energy?" "
I think the answer will be, yes and more (which seems perfectly normal to me) but how much more? In percentage it's good! I’m really going to sleep on it hi guys!
With late greetings from Lietseu :P

Thank you for your answer, indeed it is a possibility towards which I also wanted to go, I know that there are some small improvements to bring to an alternator but I do not think that this is hard to do ...

The problem and what can I expect at the power level output and what should I find as a battery? car battery series would suffice?

I already have a current arriving at home because I still live with my parents but I rather see for later when it will be my money that will be in games see you ...

Finally I say my money but it is above all the recycling and ecology goal that grieves me :(

Thank you for your answers

Hello, with regard to the alternators, it seems to me that I have read and noted that it started to produce current from 1000 rpm ...

Here is some more information, which should satisfy you and which I found on this site, long live Econology!

You can easily find in the scrap yards of your region, it would be prudent perhaps, that you make yourself accompanied by someone who knows this field, in fact, buy an alternator to see that does not work, would be quite disappointing!
You will therefore have to think about installing a gearbox at the end of the tree of your wind turbine, I think you can find all the details on this site in the wind turbine and company section.
I actually think that car batteries should be more than enough as you can put several in parallel (to increase your available energy stock).
To my knowledge, these are traction type gel batteries, which are best suited for applications that consume energy, they have the advantage of being maintenance-free, but there is a downside, they are quite expensive! ... It goes without saying that if you do not intend to use your batteries for functions other than lighting, lead-acid car batteries will be sufficient. Be careful however, you cannot store batteries in any conditions, ideally the place should be ventilated, cool and dry! By browsing a little on the Internet, you will very quickly find indications concerning the batteries, the care which must be brought to them and what they can provide you.
There are on ce forum, people infinitely more qualified than me, (jonule, looping, chatam for example) to answer your questions, I let them speak!
There is no shame in wanting to save your money when you start out in life, since you don't have much. : Mrgreen:

Good evening lietseu

I just recovered (long live the economy: p) a ford diesel escort alternator (seems that it is a little more powerful than petrol :) ) For my wind turbine.

For the rest I think to buy car batteries, I saw 30 and it did not look too bad ....

For the beginning of the tests I would have to fix my drill to this alternator to see how much watt it could give me. But there are three plugs on the alternator, once I have calculated it, will it be the plugs that I should connect to the battery?

And for the rest I will start with a horizontal axis wind turbine I think that at the blades it will be easier to achieve right?

It is only to power bulbs for the beginning, maybe later I would make a second one in order to be able to charge my laptop, unless it is suitable but for that I need 230 ....
