Pollution of wind turbines ... by insects!

Renewable energies except solar electric or thermal (seeforums dedicated below): wind turbines, energy from the sea, hydraulic and hydroelectricity, biomass, biogas, deep geothermal energy ...

How much did it cost you the personal wind turbine? Is it really profitable for you?

To save the planet we must eat less meat and therefore eat insects full of protein, as in Asia and wind turbines are a good way to collect these insects to eat ????

do not panic!!

the reduction in lift and the increase in drag which result from the presence of insects on the leading edge of a profile, is only catastrophic on so-called "laminar" profiles (vorthman, etc.) with relative thickness rather low.

On profiles with higher relative thickness (clark y, 8H12, Naca23012,)
, this effect is much less significant.

However, on most small wind turbines (domestic), "thick" or even hollow profiles are used.
Moreover, as said chatelot, the easiest way is to provide a "tilting mast" for the maintenance and cleaning of your "beloved aerogenerator". But I will not go so far as to make a variable step with gears, just to be able to clean the BA of the blades, but rather, because it allows a greater range of incidence variation (flag to reverse) than the rod system.
