Internet ... an ENOOORRRME energy sinkhole !!!

Renewable energies except solar electric or thermal (seeforums dedicated below): wind turbines, energy from the sea, hydraulic and hydroelectricity, biomass, biogas, deep geothermal energy ...

I think Vista is largely uneconomic with regard to the resources it eats in addition ... for the SAME service rendered : Evil:

Use a PM230 to compare 2 identical PCs ...

But we deviate from the Internet ...

It is necessary to occupy the power of the new processors ... : Cheesy:

Windows Vista or the operating system requiring 1024MB of ram to play solitaire ...

When I was young, I did the same on a 286 with 1024 ko of RAM ... : Cheesy:

And yes nostalgia, nostalgia for me it was an Amiga 512 (KB) without hard disk with already these dedicated processors which worked wonders !!
It is clear that current (OS) developers do not seek to write the most compact and efficient code. : Evil:

You have been warned! ! It's completely different from hibernation! And totally anti-econological !
The PC continues to run, to see if the mouse moves / clicks, etc ...
It is true that it spins slower and consumes less than in normal operation, BUT it consumes all the same!
Hibernation actually turns off the PC because all the memory is saved on the hard drive.

I therefore invite you to use Vista's pseudo-standby very sparingly.
Hibernation is much more efficient and allows you to restart quite quickly.

under this watch, the tower no longer makes any noise, the optical mouse turns off, even if we move it it does not start, you have to click on the button, and there, it starts again !, I think that this day is even very economical (suposition / hope), well, I eat and I go back to plant trees : Mrgreen:

It matches what I was saying ...

Many developers take us for idiots.

After, concerning Vista, I am not a specialist ...

Yep Christophe but Linus and the kernel team are going all out and are going to change that! Because it is true that the management of energy under nunux is not yet terrible. This is the current priority.
