Recently, an interesting documentary on Arte was devoted to Hannah Arendt, mainly focused on totalitarianisms *. At one point, the philosopher explains that totalitarianism makes a part of the population "useless": does that mean nothing to you?
Historically, they are the Jews (among others!) For the Nazis, the "counter-revolutionaries" for the Stalinists, the "petty bourgeois" for the Maoists, and I forget some on purpose, because the list is unfortunately far too long .
These references to the recent past are all the more relevant asHannah Arendt warns us: "Totalitarian solutions may very well survive totalitarian regimes". Mass unemployment is a deliberate political choice, just like that of austerity and it has nothing to do with the fluctuations in "corrugated iron" that one can indeed observe in the cyclical upheavals of the economy.

* Around 25 minutes, she declares in English that critical thinking is necessary, that all thought is dangerous, and she adds that "not thinking is even more dangerous", which the dubbing unfortunately omits to translate into French. .

Iran is showering hope for a speedy deal, oil relapses

LONDON (Reuters) March 14, 2016

Oil prices relapse heavily on Monday after new Iranian statements that dampened hopes that large producers will manage in the near future to agree on a production freeze at January levels.

The barrel of Brent North Sea is back below the threshold of 40 dollars and lost 2,9% to 39,23 dollars around 16:00 GMT, after having rebounded sharply in recent weeks in the hope of reducing excess supply World.

American light crude oil (West Texas Intermediate, WTI) fell below the 37 dollar mark, down 4,23% to 36,87 dollars a barrel.

"Oil is going down because the Iranians said they would not participate in the freeze on production until they hit four million barrels (oil equivalent) per day," said Tamas Varga, oil analyst at PVM Oil Associates, in reference to the remarks made this weekend by the Iranian Minister of Oil, Bijan Zanganeh.

Three sources within the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) told Reuters on Monday that the next meeting between producing countries on a plan to freeze production will probably take place in mid-April in Doha.

The initial plan included a meeting on March 20 in Russia, but sources familiar with the matter said last week that it was unlikely to take place.

At the end of a meeting Monday in Tehran with his Iranian counterpart, the Russian oil minister, Alexander Novak, confirmed that Iran still insisted on its will to catch up with its production before considering a freeze. The country could as such be excluded from an agreement to freeze production, said the minister.

"We share (the opinion that) Iran is in a special situation. The sanctions that have been introduced have specifically hit its production," Novak said.
