Nan nan nan, it's more than that hydraulics, it's in the 10% of the electrical energy produced. Wind, less than 1% I believe. very weak, peanut, except on TV where we take it every day in the mirettes !!

I think large groups need:
- either to restore their (nuclear) image
- either to take strategic positions on renewables with a 30-year vision (mainly oil companies)
- either both

In my opinion, Areva is in the first case, it is not with 500 people from Kobitz that it will block the biomass sector, (to answer Christophe).

Or else, the company owns land ... rich in Uranium ores, now I say that without knowing, and I'm a fan of Dallas

I don't know the% in Quebec but just the James Bay dams is fed by an inland sea, it's huge as an installation with another big Churchil Fall dam in Labrador
without counting all the others the Manicouagan ect .. the electric lines of 735 kv which descend on 1000km from the north.
There is only one thermal power plant unfortunately in my city, it is operational when the demand becomes too strong, a single nuclear power plant which becomes outdated 70km from here.

Biomass: Areva decides to invest in green coal

Areva, the French nuclear group, announced Monday the acquisition of a technology allowing the production of green coal!
Based on the Thermya roasting process, this technology is being commercially deployed, produced from biomass of plant fuel capable of replacing coal of fossil origin used for the production of thermal energy and electricity.

Roasting (or depolymerization) of biomass is a thermochemical treatment aimed at removing water and modifying part of the organic matter of the biomass to break its fibers. Roasted biomass (or green charcoal) has many advantages including high energy density, hydrophobicity, and increased grindability.

According to Areva, this operation will allow it to strengthen its position in energy production with "less CO2" and is part of the group's strategy to expand its offer with "high technological content in renewable energies". Based in the south-west of France, this activity has a team of around twenty people.
