Because in 2010, the little Dunkirk was part of the first French class of CP using Twitter to learn to read and write. According to the principle of this microblogging site, Lucas and his friends published messages of 140 characters maximum on an account unique to the class (@Classe_Masson) to exchange with their contacts ("followers").
The initiative remains marginal, but it is multiplying among teachers. If three classes had launched on Twitter at the start of the 2010 school year, a site which lists French-speaking twittclasses ( http://twittclasses.posterous.com/ ) had 25 in February, and 81 on September 1, including about fifty in France. "There are different projects ranging from kindergarten to university," describes Bertrand Formet, TICE facilitator (primary school teacher responsible for developing new technologies) and creator of the site.
