Hi friends ! 8)

Golf GTE and towing: Some photos

Image

The GTE is an unknown tractor that can tow up to 1976 kg (almost 2 tons) in accordance with the registration certificate and the appropriate license.

Experience feedback on driving 100h and almost 5500 km

This real scenario corresponds to commuting trips with economical driving, on different paths of a maximum distance 80 km where on average, 2 / 5 kilometers are traveled with the engine, and the electric battery propels the vehicle for the other 3 / 5 km

Image

5478 km traveled with only 2,5 L / 100 km of E85.

CO2 emissions: reduction of an 8 factor, assuming that E85 emits 3 times less CO2 than the SP95 at equal energy + renewable electricity.

Consumption:
* Fuel: 2,5L / 100 km
* Electricity: 8.9 kWh / 100 km

Actual costs for 100 km:
* Fuel: 2,5L / 100 km x 0.55 € / L = 1.375 €
* Electricity: 8.9 kWh x 0.15 € kWh = 1.335 €
Total: 2,71 € / 100 km

Actual consumption for 100 km:
* in all thermal: 6,6L / 100 km
* In all electric: 15 kWh / 100 km

Financial savings realized, in comparison with SP95 use at 1,4 € / L at 6L / 100km
(1.4 € / L x 6L / 100km - 2.71 € / 100km)
X 5478 km = 311.70 €

Hello Remundo,

Thank you for this data conso.

An advantage too;
On a short trip the engine can avoid being started which avoids polluting / fouling with cold engine like a classic car!

Absolutely, Gildas, for all the short trips, we do not start the petrol engine and we avoid overconsumption of a cold engine.

Otherwise here is the latest news from the GTE85,

heat drags consumption around 13 kWh / 100 km, at this level, 1km gauge = 1km real.
Image

Regarding long-term statistics, it's very good, with only 2L / 100 km of E85 and more than 2300 km traveled
Image

On the last full (which I did not finish because I go on vacation soon and I filled my tank again), we were at 1,8L / 100 km.
Image

I could have done more than 2000 km with this 40L full of E85 continuing on the commutes.

Have a nice summer :)

An interesting scenario on unevenness with multiple refills 15A during 2h.

Image

An elevation of 700 was traveled up and down.

1,25L ethanol was needed to climb the slopes because the GTE pack is too weak to ensure the energy needs alone in these demanding conditions.

Conversely, the last load, made in altitude (1150 m) allowed me to 75 km down to the destination in plain, with 4 km remaining.

The costs on this journey.
11.3 kWh / 100 km x 0.15 € / kWh + 0.7 L / 100km x 0.55 € / L = 1.695 + 0.385 = 2.08 € / 100 km, 4 cheaper than SP gasoline

hello, it's still Remundo

just to let you know that I have prepared some documents dealing with sugar beet harvesting up to ethanol in Auvergne.

What are the consumptions of the GTE85 + with its loaded trailer (500 kg)?

Image

A unique experience in Golf GTE85 +; a trailer was dragged during the trip with 1 wood stere. Approximately 500 kg of rolling mass and without significant aerodynamic obstacle. Dry road, temperature 22 ° C. The results are as follows:
* 4 L / 100 km from E85, and
* 8.3 kWh / 100 km in electricity

Image

If this trip had been made only with E85 fuel, we would have:
4L / 100 km + 8.3 kWh / 100 km x (6.6L / 100 km / 15 kWh / 100km) = 7.65L / 100 km

If this trip had been made only with electricity, we would have:
8.3 kWh + 4L / 100 km x (15 kWh / 100km / 6.6L / 100 km) = 17.4 kWh / 100 km

This represents an increase in the consumption of 16% compared to the needs observed on average (15 kWh / 100 km and 6.6L / 100 km from E85).

We realize once again here benefits of hybridization that allow a high power of traction and a long autonomy for the trip with the facility to fill up with gas anywhere. No 100% electric vehicle is able to provide such serenity for towing.

The costs for this journey are:
8.3 kWh x 0.15 € / kWh + 4L / 100 km x 0.55 € / kWh = 3,45 € / 100km

And limiting the calculation on the 67 km traveled : 3.45 € x 67km / 100km = 2,3 €

Agricultural impacts of Golf Flexfuel / Multifuel cars

A GTE85 + based on the following assumptions: 15000 km / year at 2,5L / 100 from E85
requires :
* 3500 kg of beets mobilizing 500 m² of field (22 square m side)

A Multifuel Golf (non-hybrid) according to the assumptions: 15000 km / year and 6,6L / 100 km of E85
requires :
* 9240 kg of beets mobilizing 1235 m² of field (35 square m side)

It is therefore crucial to hybridise the vehicle to limit the agricultural impact by making it possible to travel all commuting journeys with renewable electricity.

Thank you Raymond for all these returns, these figures are very interesting! 8)

I think you could still fine-tune them by plugging an obd2 like ELM327 + Torque Android app to have settings that are not displayed on the on-board computer ...
