Ecodriving, yes ... but watch out for premature wear!

Tips, advice and tips to lower your consumption, processes or inventions as unconventional engines: the Stirling engine, for example. Patents improving combustion: water injection plasma treatment, ionization of the fuel or oxidizer.

Corroded discs like this:

Image

This is not especially rare, my different Renault my equivalent on R5 R6 .... The most amazing is that it does not even break : Mrgreen:

When the livestock is on a candle, so that your discs get a better mouth, you turn the hub by hand (or engine in reverse) and intercalates a big screwdriver between the outer diameter of the disc and the caliper (as if you did a machining with a lathe tool). Contrary to what one might believe, the whole corroded crust jumps relatively easily and you can easily redo the profile of the disc (at the level of the heel of wear), at least so that the plate carries much better flat. (Do not do on disc whose thickness tolerance is already puff)

The slice is not very important though? Look at my last picture: the wear of the active surface of the discs is still very very advanced !!! It is missing bits by place so it is corroded!

I make the subject detailed in the day!

The slice is not functional for braking but its "cleaning / machining" makes it possible to see / control the state (depth of corrosion) of the cast iron below. (Say at -2mm it becomes healthy again?) Removing the heel near the outside diameter becomes easier and makes it easier to measure the remaining thickness of the disc with the caliper. :P

I just changed the rear discs on my 2005 saab (which replaced the bm) ...discs that were 2 times more km (220 00 km) and 2 times more age (15 years) ...

BM is really more what it was ... especially since the saab had been immobilized for 2 years in the open air, which must not have been terrible for its corrosion ...

By cons I used 2 sets of pads in 1 year (new pads on discs almost HS it was not a good idea ... but I believed in 1/2)
