NASA and measure thickness of the Arctic sea ice

by Former Oceano » 11/07/09, 21:58

Good evening, according to satellite remote sensing records, Arctic sea ice has thinned by nearly 70cm in 4 years (2004 to 2008).

In addition to having a reduced surface, the thickness also decreases.

Sorry I do not read English
but for a climate scientist on the scale of some centuries (even if it is accelerating) nothing alarming ... except if one wants to make catastrophism

Hello friends!

Only ice melts and terrestrial permafrost increase sea / ocean levels.

The melting of ocean ice has no effect.

That said, it is an indicator of rising temperatures that, if it actually spreads to corners like Greenland, Siberia or Antarctica, is likely to get into the water quite a lot of people.

I nevertheless think that Claude Allègre will challenge these measures : Cheesy:

Toutafé!

And he's going to release a book called: "MA truth about the pack ice ... "

Let us not forget with the melting of permafrost the release of methane due to the disintegration of methane hydrates and the resumption of bacterial degradation.
In short, a vase-ball effect (no snowball since it thaws ...)

Evolution of the melting or retreat of the pack ice ... there are 10 years ... today it is certainly much worse ...
