I think you have to be careful not to confuse "low cost" and "green".
We can always quibble, but from a sustainable development point of view, Prius or Logan, it's kif-kif: a medium-range car, with a precautionary driver - light foot on the pedal - about 5 l fuel mostly fossil with 100 km and about 110 / 120 g CO² of fossil origin with km ... After, one can quibble with infinity on these differences, on the gray energies (to bring back a Prius of Japan on a huge boat who brings 10 000, spread over the life of a car, I bet it's peanuts!). (small reminder, to locate the orders of magnitude: a car, 30 000 km per year, 5l / 100 km, it is about 1 500 l per year, 15 000 l of fuel on 10 years).
What is certain: a Prius out of jerky traffic, urban traffic style, it is of no great interest: there will be little braking, so the batteries will be charged almost exclusively from the on-board engine ; and with all the losses linked to transformations and circuits, regulations, you might as well ride in direct drive, so in Logan! Someone said so. "Green" has become a cream pie argument. The assholes, do you count!
(NB: ditto for "organic" when it comes to food).
In your case, what seems to me worth thinking about: a small car for your regular trips alone (eg a Citroën C3 natural gas compressor with you if you live a pavilion connected) + rental of a car to leave all ... or the train ????
This does not answer the debate: how to travel by car in a green way. It would take fewer cars, a little bit of everything ... It does not matter if Prius or Logan.
Last point: the engine of the Logan Diesel is the 1.5 DCI mounted in most of the mid-range Renault Modus, Clio, Kangoo ... It does not pollute more, nor less in the Logan (for the chipoteurs: the very slight variations of weight and aerodynamics - which are surely lower than the differences between a nerve driver and a cool driver).
