Carbon footprint of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

Last July, this ministry published the results of a carbon assessment carried out in its central administration.

It appears that the total GHG generated by all of the ministry's activities amounts to 3 000 tonnes of carbon equivalent, of which the items with the highest carbon emissions in order of importance are: transport (53% of emissions ), energy (17%), incoming materials and services (papers, supplies, restaurant, maintenance) (16%), equipment (mainly computer hardware) (13%)

This represents an annual average for each of the 2 317 agents near 1,3 carbon equivalent tonnes. For comparison, a Frenchman emits 2,2 tonnes of carbon equivalent every year, private life and professional activity combined.

Be careful, when we first read it we think that it is the whole of the agriculture and the fishing which emitted only 3000 Tons ... whereas it is simply

The final comparison ...

This represents an annual average for each of the 2 317 agents near 1,3 carbon equivalent tonnes. For comparison, a Frenchman emits 2,2 tonnes of carbon equivalent every year, private life and professional activity combined.

... is not relevant because it takes an average with Carbon's highly emitting industrial activities.

Instead, the department's rejections should be compared to a private enterprise that has roughly the same activity as a department ... ie service and the tertiary sector.

Yes, and I have the impression that the 1,3 t only concern the professional activity of the agents + their transport to the workplace. While 2,2 tons of average per French is work + private. To check.

But hey, the approach is commendable and the ministry will refine its audit with regional offices.
