All things we could still do with 95% of our GDP (assuming a 5% "recession").

Ah yes, we should also know how to share, isn't it gégé (I'm talking about rating national gégé, not of any kind forumeur having this nickname, if there is one!) [...]

No better, it will be my leitmotif for 2013 (and following ...) long live the civic spirit!

And Happy New Year to all ! :D

You declare, Did67:
All things we could still do with 95% of our GDP (assuming a 5% "recession").

It would be true with much less, as this text shows. Bertrand Russell, in "Praise of Idleness", published in 1932 :

"Modern production methods have made possible comfort and safety for all; instead we have chosen overwork for some and starvation for others. So far we have continued to carry out the same activity as in the days when there were no machines; in this we have been stupid, but nothing obliges us to persevere eternally in this stupidity. "

Obviously, these modern methods are both the cause of this potentiality and the cause of the lack of a desire for real application ...

Happy New Year to all and may the exchanges continue to be fruitful on the forum!

Of course !!!

But many are already lamenting with the only "fear" of a drop of 1 or 2% ... (which is probable).

In Spain it is the fierce crisis with - 5%, it seems to me.

This is why I took this figure: this is what 99,9% of people seem to fear today ...

[now, since the world is fierce - lack of "civilization" - I understand that about 25% of people fear, I am neither naive nor stupid. Isn't it gégé? The 75%, I leave them to their neurosis]

Obviously, 5% less GDP is enormous in an economy that is structurally destined for growth and which cannot function without it.
On the other hand, quite a few people understand that 5% on average, it can mean a drastic drop in their income their...

The idea defended by Bertrand Russell would only be valid if production had for its end the satisfaction of social needs and not, as today, the permanent accumulation of capital.

Yep,

The subject is good to wish a happy new year to all those who make this forum a place for sharing exchanges, conviviality and good humor.

Good health to all and enough to live decently (because if that does not pose problems for the "Gégé Deviendiable", too many people are paddling more and more ...).

In short, do not let go. : Mrgreen:
