Faced with energy challenges, what European and regional agricultural policy?
Colloquium in Champagne Ardenne organized by FADEAR and La Confédération paysanne, in TAISSY (Marne), November 16 and 17, 2006
Cereal crops, sugar beet, viticulture, animal husbandry and forestry: all of its agricultural products have and will tomorrow have possibilities of opening up to energy production to respond to the decline and increase in the cost of traditional resources. The energy vocation of agricultural sectors should not, however, hide environmental, societal and economic challenges.
Will agro-fuels participate in the fight against the greenhouse effect and will they be a response to the oil crisis? What policies should be implemented to meet the energy challenge with a view to sustainable development? How to reconcile food and energy production? Will agro-fuels guarantee income for our farmers and employment for the region?
