On TURBO it was clearly said that it was the inauguration of the first pump to dispense ethanol.
However this is not the case: it does not distribute anything at all!
This is what I call an announcement effect and there is no need to wait until 2007 to say that the inauguration in question is wind ...!

Unless you find it normal to launch something that will - perhaps - be in service in several months?
For what purpose then inaugurate?

Text what was said:
"Inauguration this week of the first bioethanol gasoline pump meeting the new E85 standard ratified by the government. It is in a total station in Porte d'Orléans in Paris that this pump has entered service, intended for the moment for only Ford Focus ... (list of makes and models) ... "

We never talked about waiting. Knowing a little about the spirit that drives the people of Turbo, if they had known that we should still wait they would have said so.

And the AFP press release of October 9, 2006 in the process:

PARIS (AFP) - The Ministers of Economy Thierry Breton and Agriculture Dominique Bussereau inaugurated on Monday, together with the CEO of Total Thierry Desmarest, the first E85 biofuel pump in Paris, Porte d'Orléans.

The Total oil group "made a commitment that we would have 250 pumps on national territory" from 2007 or early 2008, said Mr. Breton while refueling a Renault vehicle with E85.

The government wants around 500 pumps to be installed in France in 2007. The first flex-fuel cars running on this green fuel are expected on the French market in significant numbers in mid-2007. “The cars are going to start arriving mid 2007,” Mr. Desmarest said.

"The development of the French territory in bioethanol pumps will continue in a very dynamic way throughout the semesters and the years to come", said Mr. Breton.

"Agricultural production will follow, there is no problem of ethanol supply," added Mr. Bussereau.

Concerning the price of this fuel, composed of 85% ethanol and 15% conventional gasoline, Mr. Breton repeated that the objective would be 80 euro cents per liter and that the ethanol part of the fuel would be not subject to the internal tax on petroleum products (TIPP).

"This is an ambitious goal, everyone will have to make productivity gains to get there but we retain it as an objective," said the CEO of Total, specifying that the transformation of pumps represented a cost of l 'order of 10.000 euros per device.

The government recently gave a boost to biofuels, especially E85.

The government's promised E85 charter is expected to be finalized "in the next few days," Breton said. It should be signed by all the players in the sector, farmers, producers, builders and distributors.

"By 2010, manufacturers have made a commitment that half of their gasoline engines will be flex engines," he added.

On June 1, the Minister for Industry François Loos kicked off the experimental use in France of the E85, by inaugurating a first green pump in the Marne.

A fleet of flex-fuel vehicles, based in Châlons-en-Champagne, is used by the Marne General Council.

You have to be fooled not to know that the media are rushing to give amplified or anticipated news.
It has always existed and will always exist; people to make sense of things.
Journalists earn their living with this so the information is not always objective but personally it does not bother me !!

I totally agree that when Breton spoke about it, he always said 2007.
It is this staging that is "painful".

For professor 31,
I must understand that it was the journalists who edited the report asking Breton and the CEO of Total to come ...
Where it is not rather the opposite. That said, I agree that we have to be very careful what the journalists want us to swallow.

You have to believe that they cannot read ...

Tuesday 26 September 2006
Thierry BRETON is fully committed to launching in France from 2007 of “Flex Fuel-Ethanol E85, the first post-petroleum fuel. "

Convinced that we must arm ourselves in the face of a new energy situation which weighs on the economy and on the purchasing power of the French, Thierry BRETON asked Alain PROST on June 7 to lead a working group and propose an operational action plan for the development of "Flex Fuel - Ethanol E85" by 2010. This naturally takes place within the framework of the energy policy desired by Dominique de Villepin to prepare France for the challenges of today today and tomorrow.

After three months of working with all the players, Alain PROST today gave Bercy his first conclusions to Thierry BRETON and Dominique BUSSEREAU.

1. The report confirms that Flex Fuel is an opportunity for our country and for our fellow citizens:

- Many countries are already living in Flex Fuel time.

- It is an opportunity for motorists who will choose to acquire vehicles with modular fuel "Flex Fuel": protected from oil shocks thanks to total flexibility of arbitration, they can only be winners.

- It is a chance for the energy bill and the trade balance: the ethanol produced on our territory replaces imported hydrocarbons.

- This is a chance in the overall balance of power with the oil producing countries.

- Car manufacturers, including French, have mastered the technology.

- E85 contributes very powerfully to the fight against the greenhouse effect.

- This new energy outlet is a chance for French agriculture and agro-industry which have the mobilizable capacities to produce the ethanol necessary for the growth of this sector.

- It is an opportunity for growth and employment: the development of this sector will generate significant investments and job creation in ethanol production, fuel distribution and the automotive industry.

2. The action plan proposed by Alain PROST is based on the mobilization of all stakeholders from 2007.

Federating the partners of the sector in a collective dynamic is essential. Alain PROST confirmed that all the partners were ready to ensure the takeoff of this new fuel:

- The agricultural and agro-industrial sector, already widely engaged in the production of biofuels, is ready for the efficient supply of ethanol.

- The main fuel distributors should be ready to quickly make the first green pumps available to the public.

- Car manufacturers should also mobilize to offer part of their range in the Flex Fuel model, under conditions equivalent to petrol.

3. The State also has an important role to play and must guarantee the necessary visibility over time

A large part of the measures advocated by Alain PROST also fall under the direct competence of the State.

Thierry BRETON expressed his desire to fully support the development of this new fuel in the interest of consumers' purchasing power, the energy independence of France and its agricultural and industrial sectors.

In compliance with the community framework, the report recommends that the taxation of the E85 be very incentive so that the price of this new fuel is really very advantageous for the motorist.

Recalling that it is above all for the purchasing power of the French that he entrusted this mission to Alain PROST, Thierry BRETON indicated that the government would very soon decide in this area so that the tax regime of E85 be fixed by law before the end of 2006.

At the same time, the ministers welcomed with great interest the other important measures proposed by Alain Prost to support the development of this sector, in particular by targeted measures in favor of fleets of company vehicles and by the policy of purchasing public power.

Thierry BRETON and Dominique BUSSEREAU thanked Alain PROST for the quality of his work on this decisive subject. Thierry BRETON declared: "Today we are launching on a large scale the first post-oil fuel for French motorists".

Confirming their total determination to ensure the success of this action plan, they asked Alain PROST to propose to all partners to get involved in the next weeks to sign a “Charter for E85 Ethanol” alongside the State. This will formalize the precise and concrete commitments of each of the partners in this great project for our country and for the French.
