I just registered on the Forum that I discovered via the you tube films of our lazy gardener (I was looking to document myself on mulching : Cheesy: ).

Hello Fred76, welcome here.
Being myself from Seine Maritime, I will feel less alone as lazy.

Good reading

I really liked this comment on Youtube:

"hello didier, that's it, I have your book ... great. I immersed myself in it (even though I never manage to read a" gardening "book, it doesn't matter). I love your style, your clear explanations (which means that you have the knowledge, that you have reflected on the "philosophical" level to convey them, that you want people to understand, while being "fun" and colorful .. best way for us to learn) Hats off and a huge thank you. Thank you for the poetry, the "philosophy" and the intellectual honesty. "

First label:

The book is now stamped "Coup de cœur des libraires" on Fnac.com (by Fnac de Reims-Thillois).

And 3 more "5 star" comments! [7 reviews 5 stars in all; or 100% of 5 *]

The criticism of the day, received by mail:

In full, without "truncations"!

Here is finally a book that is not recipes but understanding:

Well argued with scientific data.

Accessible even to those who have not studied biology. The author tells us trivial observations or simple experiments that everyone can do. He uses images some of which are striking and create striking shortcuts, such as that of perfusion.

Clear by the style that is direct and simple, with short sentences. the text is strewn with familiar expressions from everyday language, which are certainly not very literary, but which express vigorously what the author thinks. In addition, they ease the presentation, as the traits of humor, and give the impression of a conversation between friends.

Clear by the structure. The layout is well ventilated (like a good floor!). This allows easy backtracking.

The author destroys received ideas well implanted, even in practice bioAB, on the basis of irrefutable arguments.

He explains his method as the logical result of this understanding. he has the honesty to mention the inconveniences in the pest chapter.

He is not dogmatic and we can not wait to check on our own. It does not condemn the other ways of covering the ground and gives us indications so that those who dispose of it can use them intelligently.

All in all, the content of this book is a good food for the gardener's mind and he will be able to share his vegetables. For me, it's a reference book.

That's a compliment.
I certainly would not have said so well but considering the beginning of my reading it is justified.

If we put aside the fan Soltner, who probably did not read me, there is unanimity:

- on the FNAC website, 8 comments 5 * (out of eight)

- on Amazon, 9 times 5 * (+ the Soltner fan!); the book regularly ranks between 400th and 500th place all books combined [beyond 700, for my editor, "it's excellent"; 2 times first in the categories in which they placed it - oddly "Fruits and Orchards"]

Great all this! Bravo Didier!

And the "suggestion by email" that I just received this morning is now "consistent":

But I did not understand your remark about the 2 categories ?? Fruits and orchards (because there is undoubtedly no category "fruits and vegetables") seems to me more coherent than "garden and landscape" which must speak more about the ornament and the landscape!

There is in the same "chapter", the heading "vegetable gardens", which seems to me more appropriate!

Trying too hard to get into the mold, it ends up looking like a pie.
