Fertilizers and pesticides by crop

by Christophe » 30/12/08, 18:44

Here is a comparative table on the fertilizers herbicides, fungicides and insecticides of intensive agriculture according to the type of culture: wheat, barley, corn, pos, beet, rapeseed, flax, potato, onion, carrot, salad, cabbage, leek and orchard (cider).

It would have been "nice" to relate this to the kg of culture produced ... but it can be easily found. For example a potato is between 2 and 6 kg / m² or 20 to 60 Tons / ha.

Interpretation is not easy.

We compare kg of Active Ingredients.

The dangerousness of such a molecule which is used at 5 kg / ha can be much higher than that of a copper sulphate at 100 kg / ha ... or vice versa.

In short, it is not necessarily the longest "line" that signals the greatest danger!

For example in organic, we often use phenomenal amounts of active ingredients, whose toxicity or persistence is very low ...

[Always be wary of graphics; they are never false; but what they say or talk about is sometimes wrong]
