Allow for certain adaptations, depending on the crop. For example, you have to double the layer / quantity, for potatoes. The main extent of occulting the tubers in place from start to harvest.

Indeed, the potato adds this specific constraint of requiring a sufficiently thick layer still at the time of harvest to escape the greening. Where, for another crop, the fact that the hay layer becomes lean and that some weeds grow is no problem!

I wanted to add a question: "What type of mulching / coating should be expected according to the crops?" but I no longer "edit / modify" my first post ...
