Hello

it is true that water can be recovered, I remember at the time when we bought the house, we consumed not far from 300m3 per year for 8 people at home, without swimming pool at the time,

in front of the letter box I was sweating at the idea of receiving the invoice!

then, I managed to find on the good corner, a flexible tank of the army (6m3) for drinking water, it is black is placed in the barn in the cool,
I channel the 2 water downpipes from the roof (about 500m²) directly by filling the tank, with an overflow when the tank is full, a Basic sprinkler pump (400w) is a controller for the pump.

for the water circuit I did not break my head, I connect directly after the meter with a valve that closes the city water, I only supply cold water from the kitchen tap with the city water.

then 3 years ago, I found a swimming pool on the bon-coin, about 40m3, and it was out of the question to fill it with the 6m3 tank!

So I took the overflow from the tank, put a tee on it, then supply the pool with water, put a cap to close when the pool is full.

when the end of the season arrives, it is out of the question to empty all this water like its !! I got a washing machine drain pump, which pumps water into the pool and insert a mud filter, then at the pump outlet connect my garden hose, at the end of the garden hose I connect my high pressure cleaner (which is finally a pump too), it's gone, I disconnect the water downpipes from the roof, clean it with pressure, as well as the car terraces .....

the rest of the water in the pool, I leave it !! for spring cleaning the bottom of the pool with the vacuum cleaner, okay, in the emptying position on the pump which discharges to the sewer, but at this stage there are only a few m3.

then I refill with rainwater.

our annual bill is 10m3 of water per year (for 8 people), which could be further reduced if I installed a small tap to take city water just for cooking or drinking, because we wash our hands in the kitchen is therefore still a little waste ...

the biggest part of the bill is the subscription, according to calculations we have made, we can buy bottled water for everyone, for now, I keep city water because 6m3 the summer if it does not rain for 3 weeks, we are out of stock, so I am watching for a second used tank, but not find yet.

voilou ...

Indeed, with 500 m² of roof, your production is important (in Belgium, that would make you easy 350 m³ / year, more than your consumption.

Conversely, with my 48 m², I only supply my toilets. (and despite my 6 or 7 m³, I broke down at the end of May: over these 2 months, it fell the 10th of the average)

At your level, you could even allow yourself to use 10% of the swimming pool as a buffer in the period June-September and much more in March-May, September November.

Be careful though: the laundry does not like chlorine!

It is true that there was a beautiful spring, it seems to me that at the end of May at the beginning of June I had to iron about 1 week in city water, however in the jura it rains often!

to take 10% of water from the pool, from June it will do just, March-May, no problem, it would be simple more, just to take the pump from the pool is driven back in years to arrive of water (rain) from the pool, it will do the reverse circuit :P .

Not stupid!

yes 48m² of roof is just a shame because for the laundry you have to put less detergent, for the dishwasher no need for salt or other rinsing products, we immediately see the difference in city water, glasses quickly whiten!

the bleaching of LV glasses is mainly due to the attack of the glass by the product.

Now I use Finish, which advertises it and it's much better.
On the other hand, the porcelain decor leaves the camp much faster than with the Sun (which attacked the glasses)
