It is true that none of the "official" articles stipulate the financiers and authors of this project ... :?:

Should dig because it is very important info ... :frown:

Hence the great interest in the work of associations who fight to maintain, at least, the "biodiversity" of peasant seeds, to the chagrin of agro-chemo-giant seed companies, moreover ... : roll:

Hello

I heard about it one day on Europe 1 in a show by J Pradel in March or April. Here is a guide for your research.

Well I thought that this project was precisely intended for this and financed by public funds ... if it is the opposite we understand hypersecurity better and we can, I repeat, expect the worst ...

Hello,
From what I read on the subject, it is the depositor of the seeds which retains all rights in them.
The rice institute has deposited the 110.000 known varieties of rice in this deposit.
Each country normally remains the owner of its deposits.

But who can really say what the stakes and the future of this deposit will be in 20 or 50 years?
Person !

This is not because we always said that it is impossible that we should not try :)

Reading the article cited by Christophe on azurlite, I read "... from the Global Crop Diversity Trust, at the origin of the project with the Nordic Genetic Bank of Norway, ..."
After researching Global Crop Diversity Trust I find this: "The Global Crop Diversity Trust was founded by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Bioversity International, acting on behalf of the foremost international research organizations in this field (CGIAR). The Trust is currently hosted in Rome by FAO. "
So nothing too bad, we just find in the list of donors the companies Syngenta AG, manufacturer of pesticides and Dupont / Pioneer Hi-Bred, Canadian seed manufacturer of GMO corn, which is pretty funny but no traces of Monsanto unless he is hiding behind some foundation.

By cons on http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svalbard_Global_Seed_Vault, I read :
Funding
The Norwegian government funded all of the nearly $ 8 million in construction costs. The Global Crop Diversity Trust played a key role in the project to create this vault and in coordinating the flow of samples from seeds from around the world to this vault with the cooperation of the Nordic gene bank. The Trust will provide the main funding for the operation while the Norwegian government will finance the maintenance of the structure.

The Gates Foundation has provided approximately $ 750 to assist developing countries and international agricultural research centers in the packaging and transportation of seeds to the Spiztberg. An international council has been established to oversee and advise the project with representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research and other institutions.

and then :
The Svalbard Global Seed Vault has been officially open since February 26, 2008. It is funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Monsanto Corporation, the Syngenta Foundation and the Government of Norway, as well as various private organizations.

So Monsanto participates well in funding history to lobby without doubt.
In addition you will note that we all finance a little this large freezer through our dear Bill via its great software that we love so much. : Mrgreen:
