I reread the different posts, and I raise the issue of certification. It is clear that today:
4 years of research on US sites specializing in conversion of light vehicles,
200 hours of website development,
100 hours of project feasibility study,
nearly 50 letters sent to 50 suppliers,
some 50 hours of work on the drafting of the statutes, the collection of information for the declaration of the association
6 years riding electric cars (ok, the term may not be appropriate)
do not lead us to tell ourselves that the Electric Dyane, as "nuclear" as it is, is a technological advance, in 1960, perhaps it would have been talked about, today, it is considered above all as the car that "dares".
Who dares to think outside the box, whether approved or not. From the conviction of those who are behind the project, of those who adhere to the idea of achieving the same transformation on a Dyane, a mehari, a 2CV, a 106, what do I know?
Whenever we consult a forum approaching a subject such as the homologation it is systematically the same feeling which emerges from it: disappointment "No, do not do that, it is too complicated", "no, they do not accept", "it is even no need to try ". I would only say one word: DARE (Joséphine).
The stages of approval, yes we know them, no need to tell us about the risks, the containments, the formalities, and the mood of the gugus who will put their noses in the mechanics.
Our project consists in developing the car respecting the rules of the art to show that it is entirely feasible (did I forget to specify that we had already converted a 2cv from 84 in 1995?), And to homologate a car also converted
surtout when you are supported by a manufacturer.
More, this manufacturer does not accompany you to DRIRE (... and champagne, where is it ???
), he must provide you
an authorization to modify the engine, which is completely different.
The contacts we have in Citroën
are actually interested in the project, but I won't say more. Our goal being, in the long term, that everyone can convert their 2cv and derivatives. For the moment, we are confident, but if the homologation were not to be done, our project would still succeed, except that we would not have the pleasure of demonstrating on the road (and that would be a shame).
Why a Dyane?
It is a light vehicle.
It is a cheap car: between 500 and 700 € in average condition.
Mechanical simplism, we have space to tinker.
The 2CV is a myth, a Dyane a little less, but it depends on tastes!
A simple car: no carpet, electronic gadgets ...
The car needs to be overhauled
Yes and no.
Yes: we will restore it, it will make salons it must sparkle!
No: the car will not be much heavier, it will be equipped, for the homologation, with Lithium batteries with a total weight of 100 kilos. (electric motor: 38kg). Overweight? So what ? Put 4 people in your steaming Dyane, well seated, after a good meal well watered, it means that we can no longer put anything in the trunk? The trunk will be filled with batteries, and the overweight will be around 50 kg. As for the distribution, it will be optimized.
To finish I would simply say that:
Someone who wants to go all the way finds ways,
Someone who wants to sit still makes excuses.
