Water, shapes and ultrasound: morphogenesis?

by Christophe » 02/01/08, 16:44

For those who have not yet seen this impressive video on a drop of water subjected to vibrations:

https://www.econologie.com/eau-vibrations-formes/

The question is: can a non-aqueous fluid (eg oil) make such shapes (or rather similar shapes) under "similar" conditions?

I think that with a fluid viscosity and equivalent surface tension (there should not be many), we would achieve the same result ...

Yes that's what I also suppose but it remains to "prove" ... we could also change the excitation frequencies to compensate for the physical properties of the fluid, right?

In the behavior bizard type in the presence of vibrations, there is better:

I managed to reproduce the "holes" with a speaker, but I couldn't make the tentacles, I lack the power.

PS: the liquid is just water and corn starch.

Georges Charpak talks about it in his classes, look for, it's explained!

Thank you for the migration, and there is an armada of physical phenomena under vibrations, water, liquids, piles of sand, (different under vacuum) and very complex with lots of theses and articles and unresolved problems.

You're welcome my dear!

Here I also migrated the full video of the masters of water, to see here: https://www.econologie.com/telechargeme ... integrale/

Relance of subject for those who did not follow it at the time (more than 10 years the report ...)
