your idea is excellent if you manage to bring back our know-how

there are a lot of craftsmen who would be happy to take the top of the pavement

not counting the number of jobs created in small and medium-sized businesses

the president of the 80s was no better in this area; he screwed up all the workers who knew how to work and suddenly the know-how was gone before the companies relocated. now no one wants to work, payroll taxes at more than 60% of wages, unions that brew the M .... and everything else. bosses are not always wrong to break elsewhere ....
what currently exists was largely done by the generation of the 70s / 80s. unfortunately those who enter the labor market have been fooled by the education "mafia"
who is no longer able to teach properly, but tries to keep his place in the sun

The president of the senate, also mayor of Uccle where the deadly robbery took place last Friday, answered questions from Thomas de Bergeyck on Bel RTL. These mainly focused on three distinct problems: the integration of young foreigners or of foreign origin, the feeling of impunity linked to lack of resources and finally solutions to combat this delinquency among young people. Here are large extracts from this morning's interview.
> VIDEO: THE INTERVIEW OF ARMAND DE DECKER

1. INTEGRATION: "There are realities that we don't want to hear"

You speak frankly today in Libre Belgique by saying "We have not succeeded in integrating young people of foreign origin" ...

"Listen, I'm not the first to say it. Daniel Ducarme said it, 5 or 6 years ago".

It was frowned upon at the time ...

"A lot of things are frowned upon, there are realities that we do not want to hear and it is very worrying. We know that among the detainees in Belgium, there is a large part of them who are of Belgian origin. So we have to ask ourselves the question: "Why?" and "What is wrong with education, training, society for it to lead to this?"

Whose fault is it?

"But, I think, a little to everyone. It is a complex problem the integration of a population of foreign origin but which keeps roots in its country of origin. It is a delicate country which remains difficult to settle. what I see is that some countries do this better than others. For example, in the United States which is a large country of immigration, those who come there are invited to join American society , to all these values, to respect for his flag. I believe that it is a question of value above all else ".

2. SENSE OF IMPUNITY: "15 bag-jackings and released during the day"

You advocate an immediate response, you speak of a feeling of impunity ...

"That is another concern which is not directly linked to the integration of young people of foreign origin. I note that, whatever their origin, minors, even who have multiple repeat offenders, are released during the day. the police zone of which I was president for three years, delinquents had committed 15 sack-jackings and were released during the day. This is not possible and gives them a feeling of total impunity. This leads to an escalation among them violence. However, we are witnessing a decrease in average violence but a very strong and very rapid increase in armed attacks on businesses and people which often take place with a lot of violence and that is what society must respond ".

3. SOLUTIONS: Military supervision

Should we send them where these people? There is no more room in the prisons, the IPPJ are crowded ...

"Prison is essential for adult prisoners. A guy of 35, 40 years old, his character is made, the only thing he understands is the deprivation of liberty. Still there should be enough prisons and "There is a certain dignity in the prison. Prison overcrowding is the shame of Belgium.

But for young people, guys who go back to prison at 18, 20, this is not where they will improve. And it is there that I propose to replace the prison with centers for resocialization and reinforced re-education. And I think it's not very difficult. Remember that authority is always stronger than the individual, that laws are respected, that when you have rights you also have obligations to society, this can be done. This requires IPPJs with, inside, a character, and especially societal, re-education.

Shall we tighten the screw with the military?

Like Ségolène Royal, at the same time, I was already thinking about that. All men my age who have served in the military have learned a certain discipline. Why not reintroduce this discipline in these closed centers for young delinquents. Why not re-educate them according to the classic methods of the army without any particular violence: I believe that no Belgian who has done his military service has been ill-treated. These young people must be re-educated. When they are 20 years old, they still have 60 years to live, it is better to catch them, change them rather than keep them stupidly in prison and hang out with mobsters.
