In 2008, the amount of current health expenditure (DCS) amounted to 215 billion euros, up 3,9% compared to 2007. It represents 11,0% of gross domestic product (GDP) against 10,9% in 2007. Its evolution is strongly linked to that of the consumption of care and medical goods (CSBM), which represents four fifths. Among the other components of the DCS, care for the elderly in institutions, prevention expenses and daily allowances increased in 2008.

reimbursements for doctors only making 21.5 billion or 10%, everything else is expensive: Hospitalization, drugs.
