Michel Santi is the author of "Splendeurs et miseries du libéralisme", a work in which he questions the reasons for the crisis shaking Europe. He returns here to France's policy towards multinationals, which, thanks to sophisticated legal arrangements, manage not to pay, or very little, tax. This makes France a tax haven for these large groups, placing France in third place in the world for capital imports.
Threats of nationalization, specter of a tax rate of 75% on the wealthy, high wage costs, rigid labor code ... Nothing helps! Because France is the third country in the world (after China and the United States) to attract foreign capital. It is this capacity of the French economy to have been able to attract some 43 billion euros over the first nine months of 2012 that the New York Times recently described as "paradox".
