obamot hello
Wikipedia wrote:
Limits and danger of fasting

An adult of 1,70 m, weighing 70 kg, has about 15 kg of fat reserve, enough to keep, if he is healthy, forty days of fasting. But beyond that, the continuation of the fast consumes the proteins of the body. The body catabolizes certain amino acids that can be converted to glucose during neoglucogenesis to supply the brain. Proteins are stored in muscles (including the heart).
It seems that wikipedia is crashing! Indeed, studies on penguins - and verified on humans - have shown that, after the fat mass has melted, the volume of muscle wasting is almost nonexistent (documentary on therapeutic fasting cited some time ago.)

"Within the defined limits [fasting less than three weeks in a person of normal build] fasting is not dangerous"
Another misconception! Fasting poses no danger even beyond 3 weeks, but the physiological limit is individual, in some a 40-day fast will pass very well and others at two weeks will have to stop.

For reasons of healthy living, it is not necessary to fast for long periods. A day or two is enough if you drink depurative at the same time (infusion of chamomile, sage ...)
this is correct for a maintenance fast, but more for a therapeutic fast, such as for the elimination of cancer for example or other serious pathologies.

Mwouiiii, but then beyond a certain threshold: we are necessarily exposed to deficiencies ...

In your reaction, I understand once again, the difficulty of setting the right priorities, on the part of those who try all kinds of "alternative paths", not so much because they would eventually be profitable, but often for very questionable motivations (in this case, why on earth try to feed only on light?).

Because the framework of this thread is not at all on the same register - since on the contrary - when it comes to making a "therapeutic fast", This is in no way comparable with those who flirt with an extreme framework by going to tickle their point of equilibrium closest to the stage of morbidity, which does not fail to evoke this thread ... And that creates a real life threat (Obviously)!

So after, the benefit / risk, I would not do it without calling on a doctor who knows his patient and the field very well! (It is true that they are rare ...) And I know his answer (but as it is individual, I would neither promote nor criticize it ...). Because I know a few people who have left feathers there: one has lost his sight, another has been paralyzed on the whole right side, etc.

As for feeding on light ( : Lol: ) besides vitamin "D", even plants which photosynthesize have ... roots, which allow them to find the quantities of nutrients they need ...

Anyway, now that everyone knows the risks of a prolonged fast ... It would be just as interesting if you made us a thread on "How to eat well" ;)

Inaccurate.
We "tap" in the muscle long before having burned all the fat.
It is for this reason that all slimming diets (aesthetic or sports) are hyper-protein, it helps maintain muscle mass.
The penguins have reserves which allow them to face the periods of scarcity and intense cold, unfortunately the human being does not have such capacities.
Research carried out by the US army aims precisely to allow, through chemical substances, fat burning without impacting muscle, in order to allow soldiers to hold out longer on the battlefield.

The diet Paleo also aims at that.

The Paleo diet also targets this.

that everything depends on the references used. Review the documentary in question, which has been studied by both Russians and Americans, and the conclusion does not go in your direction. Muscle mass, even after the total fat loss, does not exceed 3% (of memory) in both penguins and humans.

Young how long, what type of young?
Over 3 days, there are almost no decreases, by cons arrived at 10 days, a young complete causes a decrease in muscle mass which can reach 2kg.
Young people have their advantages and disadvantages, it's like everything.

We will not agree everyone, BUT: there is a point that is too neglected, is that when you make your body suffer, it can remember it and remind us ...!

So to those who mistreat yourself, watch your buttocks : Mrgreen: : Cheesy:

Not for nothing that we are looking for low-impact, prolonged fasting is a fairly violent method amha. It is better to see if there are not sweeter means to achieve the same ends.

worst !
A study of a population of which all individuals were referenced as well as their diet according to harvests showed thata grandmother who has experienced a famine transmits this information to her offspring and therefore modifies the DNA of her grandson, who can develop illness when he has never experienced famine

In the Överkalix study, Marcus Pembrey and colleagues observed that the paternal (but not maternal) grandsons [53] of Swedish men who were exposed during preadolescence to famine in the 19th century were less likely to die of cardiovascular disease. If food was plentiful, then diabetes mortality in the grandchildren increased, suggesting that this was a transgenerational epigenetic inheritance. [54] The opposite effect was observed for females — the paternal (but not maternal) granddaughters of women who experienced famine while in the womb (and therefore while their eggs were being formed) lived shorter lives on average

So, if you are concerned about your children and grandchildren, do not play too much, do not get hungry and anorexic, or, conversely, do not eat too much junk food

Young how long, what type of young?

These are the right questions! There are two main types of fasting: fasting by obligation (having swallowed a toxic product which prevents all nutrition by its natural means.) Which can lead to death. (extremely rare with infusions!)
Fasting by choice, generally for therapeutic purposes. It all depends on the pathology concerned, which is why no therapist on the fast will give a period since it depends on each individual. So we can see in animals that they adjust their fasting periods according to their needs: 1 day, 3 days, a week or more!
Over 3 days, there are almost no decreases, by cons arrived at 10 days, a young complete causes a decrease in muscle mass which can reach 2kg.

Preconceived idea. If the faster is in bed, he will probably lose muscle like any unsolicited muscle such as quadriplegics who consume normally, but whose muscles shrink.
With minimal activity, walking, jogging, muscle mass does not decrease and, even more, allows better endurance. For the few fasts of more than 3 days carried out by accustomed fasters, no muscle wasting noted. There are websites dedicated to fasting with lived testimonies: consult them!
For the types of fasting, there is only one: stop feeding!
Young people have their advantages and disadvantages, it's like everything.

The only drawback of fasting is the ignorance of those who talk about it without having practiced.!

No, prolonged fasting is not a violent method when it is used with discernment because effectively a fast is a break with an automatic mechanism. But it's like sport, so don't try to run the 100m in 10 seconds after 8 days of training.

dedeleco
do not confuse trauma such as a period of uncontrolled starvation with a fast which is a control technique limited to a short period.

The body needs energy, it is not a preconceived idea ...
First the body will use its glycogen stores, then the fats.
However, the body does not burn only fat to end up in the muscles, it would be too good, it would be enough not to eat for several days to have an Apollo body.
The combustion of energy is carried out by both fats and muscles, it is for this reason that slimming diets are based on hyper-protein meal replacements.

It is possible to discipline your body to mainly burn fat (paleo diet), but do not dream, once the reserves are used up, the body will draw on what is left, and this will cause muscle loss.
As Obamot mentioned, the practice of the young must be gentle, it is moreover more interesting to make low-calorie diets (preferably in the spring), because the young can lead to health risks.
