Uh ... I'm not a biologist but a physicist / chemist.

To keep fruits and vegetables, you need a very cold fridge

This is the only way to block / slow down the biological reactions of ripening then degradation of the fruit / vegetable.

For the long term, you have to freeze them outright. But purists will point out that this is not ideal (bursting of the membranes following the expansion of water which freezes).

Now, if some people like to buy some ethylene-dissolving perlinpin powder ... why not?
