US official apologizes for touting vehicles

by bobono » 15/01/08, 16:22

Joe Ellis recommended to his colleagues to favor the purchase of less energy-consuming, and therefore foreign, vehicles.

Joe Ellis, assigned to the management of the Department of Health and Human Resources, recommended to his colleagues to favor the purchase of less fuel-efficient vehicles, and gave as a bonus a list of these vehicles, except that there were no model built on American soil.

It was enough to enrage elected officials in the state of Michigan. In a letter of apology published by the Associated Press, Ellis said that he "deeply regrets having offended anyone, especially those Americans who work in the auto industry and the millions of Americans who contribute to the success of American automakers. "

He could also have recommended to the latter to build vehicles worthy of being included in this famous list, the next time.

3200rpm is not the limit for this diameter.

A reducer on a Rotax prohibits you from the metal propellers and when you reduce in approach it is preseque aerofreins that makes another additional piece to maintain.

Uh: we must not have the same limits of sound emissions: a Jabiru with a propeller of this size: we would be shot with a rifle so much noise it makes !!! (I knew a guy who wanted to use a 1.75m wooden propeller on a jab ': it made as much noise as a warbird on take off!): In my corner the neighbors of the platforms are already moaning with a 912 + DUC three-bladed propeller of 1.72m + exhaust with additional silencer to German standards (there even the Antonov AN2 are equipped with silencer! Otherwise "verboten" to fly on Sunday! ...
To comply with European standards, the Jabiru is 1.62m max ... on fast machines like the Sonex they even put propellers of only 54 inch or 1.37m ...
Metal propellers: in Europe NO ONE gets on non-certified devices ...
And the airbrake effect: that's precisely what I'm looking for because I pose on a track of only 150m (a path in fact, and it is sometimes "hot"), so the more it brakes, the better (more shutters and sliding) ... hey yes the tracks are very rare and the hangars even more so we do as we can with the local peasant ... : Cheesy:

Hello,

Info to check: fill your gas tank in the morning!

Hi, don't listen to this guy, the changes in soil temperatures to 3m deep are negligible over a period of one night (true on the other hand over a year).

You must refuel every evening (in the most favorable case) because the fuel temperature is higher than the outside temperature, condensation forms on the walls of the tank, falls on the fuel and ruins the injection pump and fill the fuel filter.
(all farmers do it and know it) :D

This video is a bunch of bullshit.
The difference in temperature of the fuel tank buried between morning and evening is tiny. The volume of the tank is in ten m3 and it is not buried just under the slab of the station, the inertia must not be small ..... chui not even sure that the variation in density is measurable one day greyness ... from there to save .... you have to look for 3 numbers after the decimal point. : Mrgreen: Moreover, given the price of the precious liquid and the low price of electronics, both the measurement of the volume delivered is corrected with the temperature but for `` large '' temperature variations (summer / winters)

For the tank of the car not to empty too much to evaporate less ... when it heats in full sun whether it is full or empty it will evaporate by venting. It is certainly much more efficient to plan to park in the shade.

For filling with the spray gun while pouring gently, can be a very small saving with gasoline? , with Diesel surely not (very little volatile). Besides the problem is not to save a few milligrams of fuel but to breathe vapors of toxic products (benzene and other junk)

The tank truck and tank bottom salloperies. The problem is that the driver of the tank truck is not going to give you an appointment to tell you when he is passing by (unless you are monitoring him full time). The tank level of the station is not displayed ..... so you will take what is in the tank when you fill up (possibly with lots of dirt and or water). Besides, it's not the most problematic dirt, but water. The filters will stop the dirt but not the water and that is good for putting you down .... Water that you bought at the price of fuel ..... great savings indeed. : Mrgreen:

Paying attention to your driving is much more effective than looking for savings at the end of the rope.

yeah, but when it's summer, air has to enter the tank for
to escape the fuel..and if this air is at 30 ° ...

a good way is to fill a can of 10 l of gasoline in the morning and weigh it and then do the same thing at night.

We are well in extreme savings. : Cheesy:

The return air is warm summer OK, and arrives over the fuel ... but to be able to empty the tank, you have to draw the fuel from below the tank. So you suck up the fuel that has remained most sheltered from temperature differences in the point furthest from the heat source. The temperature should be that of the earth at 2 or 3 m deep (between 15 and 20 °?)

Absolutely, the water of an outdoor swimming pool in summer is only heated on the surface, it must be the same for gasoline in contact with hot air.
Conclusion: full in the morning is useless! : Cheesy:

don't nitpick with ridiculous density differences ...

radical solution, fill up with water

firstly it's cheap
